This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
It's got a strong religous message but hey, thats what Christmas is really about!

I guess my favorite secular Christmas songs would be "Silver Bells," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," and "Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas" (from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer).  :)

Talking about Ave Maria...  I always melt away at Johann Sebatian Bach's version.
Here sung by the great Jesse Norman:

I heard a Christmas song on the radio the other day... I've been trying to find it on the web with no luck.  Unfortunately, all I can remember is the word "viva" featured prominently in the song, and the song was sort of lyrical (like Happy Christmas and Do They Know It's Christmas)...  can y'all help?

I just remembered a few Christmas songs we sang in French classes at school.
The first one, "Petit Papa Noel", is a real classic.

From the other videos I watched, I'd say this is Tino Rossi singing.

"Il est né le divin enfant"

I think this is the first French Christmas song I learned.
The quality of this recording is not very good (voices standing out, background noises etc.), but I really liked the arrangement.

"Les anges dans nos campagnes"  :D

I think, this might be my all-time favourite Christmas song. My mother used to sing this song a lot with my brother and me when we were younger. We could only sing the chorus, not the French parts, but my brother and I loved it.

Again, the recording is not the best and there are some notes (tones?) askew, but for so many young boys it's very good, I think. Also, I was really impressed by some of the voices.

I learned that in French class, but it was the second one. First was "Un flambeau, Jeannette Isabel."  :)

P.S.: Thanks, Gary. I love Burl Ives as Sam the Snowman singing "Holly, Jolly Christmas." A very happy childhood memory!  :D
