Shiprock, holy ground for those of us who love Tony Hillerman's mystery novels:

Driving south toward Gallup, we took a lovely detour through the Chuska Mountains, coming out at Window Rock, Arizona, capital of the Navajo Nation. Here's a shot of the landmark from the parking lot of the police station (more holy ground):

Opposite Window Rock is the Navajo Nation Council Chamber where the chapter delegates meet 4 times a year:
