Paisley on everything

Tight, tight, tight pants (how did guys stand that? looked uncomfortable...)

The Bicentennial quarter

In my church, ladies wore round lacy things on their heads. Colored to go with the rest of their clothes.

In the rain, ladies wore plastic head coverings tied under the chin to protect their hairdos.

Ashtrays in every room

Cigarette holders

"You've come a long way, baby."

Metal garbage cans

"Expensive" 53ยข gasoline

Deep, see-thru plastic umbrellas

Roller skates

Skateboards with crazy art and WIDE wheels

Portable transistor radios  (FM = a big deal)

"Line dancing" meant disco

More specifically olive green carpet and orange drapes,,,,,,,,,yikes.

Turquoise tile in the kitchens and bathrooms.  And gold appliances.

All that weed made the colors seem bland i guess, so they needed bright to contrast...

     Beautiful mind

Are you a child of the 60's and 70's? What are some of your memories?

A few more of mine... Silk screen shirts and bell bottom jeans, cinnamon flavored tooth picks, Dungeons and Dragons, florescent posters, dropping acid when it's 98 degrees outside, Pink Floyd and "The Dark Side of the Moon", wearing long hair, rock and roll blaring on the radio, Pintos, Pacers and El CAAAMIIIIIINOs, dip and dry artificial flowers, glow in the dark paint, UFOs, rock "computers", the Green Ghost game, macrame, poppers in a bottle, punch cards for a school lunch, Gene Simmons and KISS, the sound of a vinyl LP playing on a stereo, the protests over the Vietnam War, Sandalwood Incense, Flower Power, Beer bashes deep in the woods. The Age of Aquarius and Elvis...

What are some of your memories?

not 97....not 99.....just 98??

huh!

I guess I am too young to remember the 60s.    :-\

I was only ten in 1976.  But I do remember all the hoopla over the bicentennial.

Things from the seventies I remember......

Disco music.

8-tracks.

CB radios.

Mom being shocked when Elvis died.

Watching the six million dollar man on TV.

Having to walk over and turn the channel knob to change the TV channel!    OMG!

[snip]

life was hard back in the Dark Ages wasn't it?

Remember the clackers?

I had several pairs of clackers. One of them even glowed in the dark! Sometimes they would get away from me and crack me upside my head.  >:(

It hurt too.

I sure do remember all those things Dottie!! I especially remember the Silly Putty because I was always putting it in my mouth. I don't know why I did it. It didn't taste very good. I'd stick it in my mouth and chew it like gum.

I was always eating things I shouldn't... Silly Putty, Play Doh, school paste, finger paint, my mom's lipstick...

.... the list goes on and on.

I also remember a big ball with a handle on it. I'd sit on it and bounce around the basement! I forget what those things were called. Mine was blue I think.

It sure was! If the signal wasn't coming in very well, my parents would make me walk over and adjust the antenna for them. And if the signal suddenly improved while I was holding it, they would make me stand there with the antenna in my hand until the show ended.

I really hated that!

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
