Bringing Brokies together.
« on: January 23, 2008, 12:59:29 am »
It is so sad seeing so many people upset. But in a way, touching, to see all friends, old and new, brought together. I haven't been around much or posted a lot, but I feel lucky to be a part of this community. It looks like a lot of memories are on here and it touches my heart.

This movie changed my life and I am devastated to hear of Heath's passing. It is truly heartbreaking and I wish it wasn't true.

Me too... even as I am aware of how it brings us together... I can think of countless other reasons for that and I know everyone else can too.   I'm leaving the site now, to get through a day, but thanks friends for helping me get through it.

I left work early. Couldn't get anything done anyway. I sat there listening to normal chit chat about work, survived a half hour meeting and then decided to go home.

I'm rembering all the brokie hugs I've gotten so far. I've been fortunate enough to have received a lot of them. I need them right now. I'm glad I can be here.  :'(

I have to go to work, but will be back later and catch up. i have to remember my family is here. and hi to everyone that has NO idea who i am..my own fault.  Heath. I am so so sad.

I was at a physics conference in the south of Holland and I couldn't get away to be on Bettermost. Then I had to travel three hours back home. All I wanted to do was log on here and talk to fellow-Brokies. Nobody understands what I feel but my fellow-Brokies.

Welcome back, old Friends.  I wish it were for a happy reason, but BetterMost is proving its real solid gold value right now, isn't it?

Heath, you brought us together in the first place.  It's only right that we come together now for you.  :-*

Yes, I'm always thankful for the Brokie and BetterMost communities.  I cannot imagine dealing with this tragedy without a place like this to come and find friends.

Heya Friend,
I completely understand where this feeling is coming from.
 :'(

But, for me, I think there may be another way to look at this.  Heath gave us Ennis (well, along with Proulx of course), and Ennis will always be right there in that amazing film that will be remembered as a brilliant highpoint in Heath's legacy as an actor.  And, of course, Ennis will also continue to exist as a very powerful figure in the hearts and minds of Brokies everywhere.  So, I don't think we've really lost Ennis at all.

And, Ennis will help Heath's name be recalled with a huge amount of respect and admiration in the history of very serious film for many, many generations to come.  Again, a part of Heath's incredible legacy as an actor that really can never be taken away.  It's comforting to me to think that we'll always think of Heath as young, handsome and in the absolute prime of his acting abilities in the form of Ennis.  And, Ennis, at least for me, will definitely always still be there.

Geez, I've just made myself cry.  :'( :'(

I just had a great long phone call with Banner Hill, reminiscing, conjecturing, admiring.  A silver lining.

Someone else (I think it was Milli) posted this comforting thought for those who have the feeling we did not only lose Heath, but also Ennis:

He's with Jack now.

I know. That's exactly how I feel, only this time I can't say to myself that the persons I was crying for were fictional charachters (as if I ever believed that!).
This is worse.  :(

I agree.  What you wrote reminds me of something that really struck me at the BBM BBQ 2007; Some concern was expressed about the fact that many of us going on the Wyoming Road Trip were gay and that it might not be a good idea to be too obvious that were were there because of BBM.  That really brought the fact home to me that this was still the reality even in 2007 and was not just the fiction that portrayed a situation so many years ago.

I find that shocking Pete. I really do. That even in 2007 you have to be on your guard. I know you have to be, but still..  >:(  :(
