This date would be with any person living today or in the past - no restrictions.

Who would you like to get to know better?

Well that would be cool, as long as it was before they turned him into a robot Tom Cruise.

now remember, Pike ended up in the high tech wheel chair because he was exposed to radiation poisoning while saving the lives of cadets under his command. Pike was a hero in the tradition of the captains of the Enterprise. Can you see Cruise in that role?

What a brilliant idea for a thread, inspired.
My answer instantly, has to be Heath.Sorry to be so predictable.I just want to see some of that incredible energy and generosity in person.

But if I can't have him, then it would have to be, John Lennon.

Interesting that you would pick Lennon. I thought of V.I. Lenin as my dinner-date companion.

I would want to ask him, why did you ever let that creep Stalin into the Party ExecCom? I started to pick his name, but I hesitated because I didn't think anyone would take the thread seriously if they saw me pick the founder of the Soviet Union as a dinner companion.
