I thought maybe we could start a thread with who we've invited so we don't keep inviting the same folks over and over...and maybe...if there is someone we have concerns about, we could float it by the group? I am not trying to exclude anyone but the old CT seemed to get overrun at the end, and we all know what happened after that! So, if there is someone who is perhaps not well known to the group--

I have invited rtprod and Nicole, but I see Nicole is here already. I'll also shoot a message off to Jeff Scheib.

I would like to invite JCObserver. She is fairly new to the group but we've exchanged emails and I think she is legit

(her name is Jenny).

And last, can we keep no_no out, please?

I also just realized that you can look up at the top right hand corner and see the newest member--right now, chefjudy has signed in.

There is a membership directory already established here - check the bettermost.net or forum page (don't remember where the link is). It's an awesome list. Also, some folks have not yet read their e-mails or PMs. Please DO NOT invite folks you are not absolutely sure of.

Also - there is a welcome thread on the Forum home page, and I think it would be great for us to go introduce ourselves to others here. It'll be really fun to make new friends I think, without the troll paranoia we've all had for so long.

krpc is Ken he's been around a long time, just really sporadic. But I agree with Clarissa we need to be REALLY careful who we invite...so that means no new people for now. PLEASE....we don't want to be duped again and mess this up. I personally still have serious concerns about JCobserver even after 4 PM's from her....and I don't trust Charline Wharton any further than I can throw her.

i have to re-iterate this 100%, if for anything, because Phil was kind enough to make this space for us. For us to turn around and invite someone who ends up being a troll could cause a lot of problems, and we don't want to wear out our welcome so quickly!

another thing to consider is we should only be inviting people who are avid members. i mean chronic brokies. just because a casual poster, regardless of how long they've been around, could easily blurt out the site, or get duped into saying where we are, etc.

i know it's paranoid and clique-y, but let's just be patient and cautious, and eventually we'll be able to be more open.

Just one more thing about trolls in sheep clothing. I have received emails at the lifeboat address from people pretending to be some of you. How $^%ed up is that?

So invite old friends only, by PM, ir email, or telephone only. And not on any "secret" other IMDb board. Or any other non-secure way. And then we can gradually let our newly acquired paranoia drop away over the next few days, and settle in here.

Now who wants to go to The Knife & Fork and celebrate!

Thanks Leslie - really want to be careful with new friends/seeming friends. Please PM me - here not on IMDb about anyone you can vouch for personally to invite. Clarissa & I need to go over the lists of folks we know.

JCobserver just posted a bunch of stuff on-line about other address and sites we could set-up camp - not very discreet, y'know.

I think especially for those who don't visit a lot, even though we like them, we'll be ok getting an invite out a little later.

I feel like we're at a highschool reunion. Everytime I see a new name in the "latest member" corner, I think "YAY, look who it is!"

But I agree about only inviting people that we are 100% sure of. Remember back awhile ago when we first discussed where'd we go if CT at IMdB was overrun with trolls? All of a sudden dozens of non-regulars were frantically posting "Don't leave me behind" when they really hadn't posted much before that. I'm not saying that they're bad people, just that it's best if we stick with people who are definitely dedicated to this family and who won't "leak" te information to shady IMdBers. Like many of you have said already, we do not want to ruin this beautiful new place that was hard worked on.

Leslie, I agree with Clarissa, We just can't assume everyone who knows the book and story, and who seems nice, are who they claim to be. Please don't invite any new people. We can't be so quick to trust anymore. I don't like it either but I am not ready to risk having home #2 ruined before we even move in.

EDIT: Sorry Leslie, I didn't see your message above where you agreed not to invite JC yet. I was busy having a heart attack over here. Please forgive me for seeming to jump on you about it.

For now, maybe we should always put out an email or PM to the moderators of the board about people we want to invite? Both to see if it's redundant and to make sure we have some kind of committee-like way of making sure our home is the right home for new invites.

Maybe we could work up some kind of due diligence process, looking at a combination of posting history, referrals from other Tremblayans, and some kind of test of knowledge of the movie. That would be fun to draw up a list of questions about the movie that potential Tremblayans would have to answer.

Haha, that sounds like the thing some of the German federal states recently planned to do with foreigners who apply for the German nationality: let them answer some questions and prove their knowledge and motivation.
The question catalogues were already circulating, and let me tell ya: those questions were difficult as hell! It caused a big media uproar. Many said that most Germans would probably have to leave their own country had they to go through this... (me included).
Guess it's totally different with Brokies, though. They know their stuff!

I can add a bit to our history:

Only a few weeks later, the paranoia had abated a good deal and links to BM were opendly posted on IMDB.
I came to the BBM board in late March 06, only a few days before the big exodus.
After not even four weeks, I couldn't stand the IMDB board anymore and was looking for alternatives. I found a link to BM posted on IMDB, as well as links to DCF. Tried both forums one afternoon and decided for BM. That's how come me to end up here
