  • There's no reins on this one....
((The High Priestess, loving all the chi in the air, hums a tune, hangs up a few more twinkly balls and wafts a bit of scented candle through her chambers))

**H is for Hoss, my new boyfriend student.   8)

He looks just like this guy:

And makes me sigh  ;)

Tonight, he's comin' by....oh my!  :P

Must head for the spa--it's do or die!  :o **

  • I lost myself to him.
YOUNG JACK:

((looks at Hoss))

**Now, he's oddly familiar, and that scent is unique.
Are you sure he's not someone we've known.
I'd swear he looks like ol' Ennis.
But he should be down at the campground.
So I guess it's not him, not by a mile.
But god, they've both got great smiles.
And you say he's a student?
Just what do you teach?
You religious types, you all like to preach.
Maybe he can teach me about the holy ghost,
Cause I need lurnin' bout the Pentecost.**
Why do we consume what we consume?
Why do we believe what we believe?
Why do we accept what we accept?

(( FSD strategically arranges Mr. Ledger in Meryl's personal space AGAIN, but Meryl seems distracted by the spa.  FSD doesn't have to convince him this time that Meryl's chi is worth the wait. ))

** FSD offers the High Priestess the gift of LUCK (not that she needs it.) **

  • Call me Courtney
Ladies, gentlemen, and poofs, may I have your attention please: We would like to inform you that Courtney, understudy for the fabulous DeeDee, has been out all day. She has arrived on the set, but we are uncertain how long she will stay. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the remaining 257 years of the performance.

YOUNG JACK:

((Cheers and applause))

**Well hurry up, Ennis, get your gear in line.
We've got sheep to treat and scenes to time.
And I'm really getting tired of rhyme.

I'm not the only one, I'm sure.
I'm about to be swept out the door.
Even the director's starting to snore!**

  • And French-kissing, too!
YOUNG JACK:

You religious types, you all like to preach.

Jolly Minister:

** Yes we do like to preach! We like to remind young people, and everyone for that matter - cos people need reminding a lot! - that they should not give in to temptation...And you, young Jack, seem to be in desperate need of some preaching! What is it I hear? Nothing but lustful longing for this...Ennis? Ennis?! That name sounds familiar, and yet it is not so common... Let me see... isn't he that young man who came to see me to book the chapel, and myself for the service, for when he gets married in November next? Yes it is! Haha! There you are, young Jack! Follow Ennis's example, instead of his scent! He is getting married, and yes, with a woman, a lovely young lady that I am sure Ennis has not laid a finger on yet! And won't till the wedding night! So there. NO drifting off the straight path for you with him, me boy! I may be jolly but I will not be led astray from some basic principles.**

YOUNG JACK:

**A minister, egads. All the way up here?
If you ask me, that sounds right queer.
And I don't think that title's right.
I've thought of it and pondered all the night.
And from what I've heard, it's plain to see.
That minister don't sound jolly to me.**

** FSD LOVES lizards, and this one in particular.  She has printed it on her puny printer and taped a safety pin to the back and is pretending that it's a piece of jewelry, although she ripped off a few toes with the scissors.  For the sake of this production, FSD is attempting to tie-in the mythological significance of lizards so there's some reason to have posted this. **

The Lizard: In ancient Egypt and Greek symbolism the lizard represented divine wisdom and good fortune.  Its sun-seeking habit symbolizes the soul's search for awareness.  In Roman mythology, lizards supposedly sleep through the winter and so symbolize both death and resurrection.

%% In many ways, the lizard represents the opposing forces at work for Jack and Ennis: opportunity and loss, expansion and contraction, love and fear, opennes and defensiveness.  %%

YOUNG ENNIS:

%% Oops, the coffeepot still has a spot. I don't want Jack to think I'm bad at tendin' camp. %%

((Rolls up pant legs and wades into the river. Washes coffeepot. Looks up to see Jack on the mountain with the sheep.))

%% Boy, even from far away that fella looks good on a horse. Wait, what? Uh, I mean he seems like he knows what he's doin'. %%

((Climbs out of river.))
