I enjoy Crumpets for breakfast some weekends..  a welcome change from toast.

There are 86 calories in 1 medium Crumpet.
Calorie break-down: 26% fat, 59% carbs, 15% protein.

Of course, when you cover them with butter & jam (like I do most times)..the calorie break-down isn't quite as above.

Do you have tea with your crumpets?   ;)  I always think of the two together.  How would you describe the difference between a crumpet and an english muffin?

Kellogg's Raisin Bran (1 cup with 1/2 cup skim milk): 250 Cal., 45 g Carbs.
Post Shredded Wheat 'n' Bran (1 cup with 1/2 cup skim milk): 240 Cal., 49 g Carbs.
Quaker Oats (1/2 cup dry): 150 Cal., 27 g Carbs.
100% whole wheat bread (2 slices): 200 Cal., 36 g Carbs.
Thomas' Whole Wheat English Muffins (1 muffin): 120 Cal., 23 g Carbs.

Yep Jeff. We don't buy/have bread or breakfast cereal in the house. I believe breakfast cereal is one of the most unhealthy foods we give to kids. Most of it is full of sugar. No wonder kids keep getting heavier. We eat oatmeal sans sugar because of its proven positive impact on bad cholesteral. We eat pasta as a treat. We also eat rice and beans, which are high in carbs, but again, we believe the good outweigh the bad, and eaten in moderation is the key (IMO).

I usually have them with a cup of creamy coffee. Yum.
As for the difference between a crumpet and an english muffin - I find that crumpets taste richer.  That's my non-expert opinion from what I've tried so far.  :)

Late Brunch  Minestone soup (ok I confess canned) and two slices toast

Dinner Bacon two eggs toast and spaghetti

Dessert  pancakes with lemon and a spinkle of suger (and the second confession is that I will eat the whole batch and probably look for more  ;))

That spaghetti with the bacon, eggs, and toast seems like quite the combination, Matt!  Is it an Australian thing? or were you cleaning out the fridge?  ;)

I can't throw stones because...

Breakfast:  cafe latte with skim milk, fruit, cottage cheese
Lunch:  1/2 buffalo chicken wrap with spinach tortilla and Doritos
Dinner:  small frozen pizza, then two hours later Ryvita crackers with sliced ham ... and I'm getting ready to get into the Ben and Jerry's ice cream (Chunky Monkey flavor).  ::)

There's always gourmet action at your house, Brad!  I think y'all need to host a Brokie BBQ Brunch  ;)

Already hosted a couple Brokie events here Lynne. Outside of loving to hunt, camp, desire to own as many guns as I can, I love to cook  ;D

I'm thinkin' the frozen pizza and Chunky Monkey 'null-n-voided' the cafe latte with skim milk--but hell, we only live once  ;)
