We have one flashlight that can be used as a hanging lantern, and several other flashlights and of course, candles. Then there's the light of the Jotul and the moon...but mostly we just go to bed early and get up when the power comes back on or the sun comes up, whichever happens first.

Breakfast: grape fruit and a slice of toast with butter, cinnamon and sugar

Lunch: hot dog and a bowl of mixed vegetables.

Dinner: pot roast with potatoes, celery, onions and carrots. It's been slow cooking all afternoon in a dutch oven. Tomorrow I will cook it down some more and make sandwiches from the leftover roast. :D

I'm so sorry to hear about your power outage Lee. I'm wondering if my sister is without power too. She lives in Brighton.

I hope it comes back on soon. We often take electricity for granted until it goes out.

I should have posted yesterday (Friday) that supper was my favorite Friday supper: chili, on a bed of brown rice, with a little grated cheese on top, and a salad, and bread and butter.

This is significant because I gave up chili as part of my Lenten discipline.  :D

Yeah, I love it too Jeff. Especially in the winter. Your chili sounds really good as well. :D

Yeah, but your pot roast was home-made.

My chili was Hormel from a can. ...

New research indicates it might be a good idea to eat protein for breakfast. It seems that carbs such as cereal and oatmeal don't give us that "I'm satisfied" feeling, the opposite happens in fact, and some people are in danger of gorging on carbs the rest of the day...

But I don't want to eat an egg either. I had an omelet for dinner last nite. I think I'll have some leftover pot roast!!
