A Dog Named Faith
« on: October 22, 2008, 09:51:04 pm »

A Dog Named Faith

He was born on Christmas Eve in the year 2002.  He was born with 3 legs - 2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which had to be amputated.  He of course could not walk when he was born.  Even his mother did not want him!

His first owner did not think that he could survive.  Therefore, he was thinking of 'putting him to sleep'.   By this time, his present owner, Jude Stringfellow, met him and wanted to take care of him.   She was determined to teach him to walk by himself.  Therefore, she named him 'Faith'.

In the beginning, she put Faith on a surfing board to let him feel the movements. Later she used peanut butter on a spoon as a lure and reward for him to stand up and jump around.  Even the other dog at home also helped to encourage him to walk.  Amazingly, only after 6 months, like a miracle, Faith learned to balance on his 2 hind legs and jumped to move forward.  After further training in the snow, he now can walk like a human being.

Faith loves to walk around now.  No matter where he goes, he just attracts all the people around him.  He is now becoming famous on the international scene.  He has appeared on various newspapers and TV shows.  There is even one book entitled 'With a little Faith' being published about him.  He was even considered to appear in one of Harry Potter movies.

Jude Stringfellew has given up her teaching post and plans to take him around the world to show that even without a perfect body, one can have a perfect soul.

In life there are always undesirable things. Sometimes we can feel better when we open our hearts to the possibility of believing that our dreams can come true.

I hope this message will bring fresh new ways of thinking to everyone and that everyone can appreciate and be thankful for each beautiful day that follows.

Life is the continual demonstration of the Strength of Life!

That story made me cry, Kerry. It's so sweet. What a wonderful lesson from a little dog! Amazing that his owner taught him to walk so well. It's great that she takes him to schools to help teach the children some important life lessons.

I have a dog who is 12 years old. (He's not handicapped, but he did have a rough start.) His mom was dumped out in the country and I started feeding her---she was about to deliver. I made her a "nest" and she had 11 babies. 10 were just fat and warm and thriving--1 was scrawny, off to the side, stiff, and cold while all the others had begun nursing or fighting to nurse. I took him and wrapped him up in a heating pad turned on low. He got some life back in him, so I returned him to the mom so he could eat.

He was the runt--half the size of the other pups. But he made it! 12 years so far.

Anyway---I tell him that when he was born, he was a pupsicle!!! LOL. And now he's my little buddy. (70 pounds) He protects me -- too much sometimes. I love him.

I love dogs.  ;)

I had a very emotional reaction to this story too, Shasta. And I agree, David, that Faith looks like a very well-adjusted, happy, little fellow. He and Jude look so happy together.  :D

You say you saw Faith on the TV news, Artiste. Was that in Canada? I just presumed this story must have come out of America, but maybe Faith is a Canadian doggy.   ;D

That is a wonderful story of Faith, and his owner.

Kerry, I have seen it on TV here a few times over the last coupld of years. He was on Montel (which is on pay TV here) and he may have been on Oprah, Im not sure. I think he was on the news too.

I also received an email with a video clip of Faith, so there may be a youtube available of him as well. To actually see him walking around is phenomenal....

To see him walking around is absolutely amazing and to see the love and devotion from his owner is truely inspiring.

A friend emailed me the above info about Faith a couple of days ago. Until then, I'd not heard of him. I was very moved by his wonderful story and the life lessons it teaches us all.  :D

Faith on YouTube.

Thank you so much for posting that clip, Chuck. Faith is even MORE amazing in motion. I imagined that she would walk very slowly and shakily, but she moves at speed. Amazing.  :D

  Your caption is hilarious, Truman. Just love it. And if I remember correctly, there is a dog barking, in the background, in that scene from BBM. Maybe it was Faith!  ;)   :D
