The Fads We Love To Hate

The mullet hairstyle is the worst craze of all time, an online poll has found.

The popular 1980s 'do trumped fashion disasters and novelty items to win the title of most cringeworthy fad ever in the survey, conducted by internet shopping store grabitnow.com.

The shellsuit - a two-piece nylon tracksuit - was runner-up, followed by the irritating Crazy Frog ringtone.

The bubble perm came in fourth, while Tamagotchi virtual pets and reality TV filled fifth and sixth spots.

The Macarena song, ponchos, Adidas popper tracksuits and networking sites rounded off the top 10.

Which ones do you hate? If your most hated fad is not in the top 20 listed, vote "Other" and tell us what it is. Perhaps you love some of these things. If so, tell us which ones they are and why.

Have fun with the poll, everyone!

Well, I voted for Crazy Frog ringtone, bumbags (fannypacks here in the U.S.), and Ugg boots, even though I have a pair of house slippers that look like uggs.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

I voted "Reality TV" and "other"; e.g., those godawful baggy pants that make young men look like unemployed clowns.   :P

I voted that I hate Tamagotchi Virtual Pets, the Macarana Song, Ponchos and Cabbage Patch Kids ( they are sooooo ugly!). If I knew what the Crazy Frog ringtone was, I'd probably vote for it too, but I don't know what it is.

There's a guilty pleasure I must confess to. I secretly loooove men with mullets. (Gasp, did I actually say that out loud?!) I don't know why. I guess I'm just attracted to bad boys and God knows, a lot of those blokes with mullets sure do look baaaaaad!  :P   ;)

Oh God...  worst fad?  The super-low-waist pants on girls that totally show the CRACK.  I was on an airport train, and a girl (who otherwise looked ordinary/demure) was sitting with her mom or somebody at the end seat of the next car — with her CRACK in full view for all to see. Totally oblivious.

At least the guys with low-hanging pants tend to wear high-waisted boxers so we're not treated to that *gag* view.   :P

And even if they don't show the crack, they give big-waisted women that huge muffin-top gut... not a good look.

How about trousers worn so low that they look like they're going to fall down at any minute?

I have to admit that when I see a kid wearing his britches like that, I secretly watch, hoping against hope that they will fall down and trip him and he'll fall flat on his (usually smug--they nearly always look smug) face. That should teach 'im.  ::)

It all depends on the individual man, Kerry. Though when I find a man with a mullet hot, it usually has very little to do with his haircut. ...  ::)

Good grief! That is terrible!  >:(  I certainly won't be changing to the crazy frog ringtone. Can you imagine being stuck on public transport or in an office when several of them go off at once.  :o

Thanks for posting, Kelda.   :D

It certainly is weird, Jeff. It's very weird.  :(

I'd go so far as to say it's bizarre!   :o

And you're right, it's not a true mullet.  :-\

At least Rapunzel there seems to have a pretty nice butt.  ;D
