I guess these are all created by fans, but nice all the same.
My favorite is the first one with Ennis. Really neat.

I agree about the Ennis one, but I also really, really like this one...  :D

And I think this one is pretty special, too:

These are all awesome - and I agree that the first Ennis poster is so stunning with that contrast.

Thanks for sharing, Monika.  :)

The Saddest Cowboys

(Excerpt)

"--So with such articulate stars and respected director Ang Lee promoting the story of the deep love between these two characters, what is up with the studio’s new ad campaign for the film?

The poster on the left is the original one that evokes the brooding, sad nature of the story. The one on the right is the ad that just started appearing in the trades. Are they hoping that the stodgy Academy voters will be confused into thinking this is the heartwarming tale of a devoted family man played by Jake Gyllenhaal traveling the rodeo circuit with his lovely wife, Anne Hathaway? How ridiculous to use this image to sell the film...."

Excellent thread.  I think this would be perfect for a sequel, about how Ennis get's on after the original story ends.  But for the original movie, you've got to have both of them on the poster.

Hi Eric!  :D

Yes, I thoroughly agree... as nice as that Ennis picture is, it's very important to me to have both Jack and Ennis on the poster... the story belongs to both characters.

Yep. You can't have Ennis without Jack, as a certain woman put it. :)

Beyond Brokeback: The Impact of a Film
Members of The Ultimate Brokeback Forum

$14.95

Beyond Brokeback  is a sampling of deeply moving personal stories prompted by Annie Proulx 's short story Brokeback Mountain  and the Ang Lee film which it inspired; a movie in which the ravages of self-denial are portrayed with unique frankness and realism. These stories, selected from contributions to an online forum dedicated to Brokeback Mountain  at davecullen.com, describe the fears, hopes and aspirations of those readers and viewers for whom Brokeback Mountain  is a revelation. Here, the cathartic power of great writing and great film making is clearly evident. No other story or film has inspired so many of its audience to personal positive change.
