Chapter 44!

“Mr. Coyote always gets me good, boy,”  Ellery said, winking.  “Almost forgot what life was like before I got me my own personal coyote.”

SPOILERS

Well, Joe may be tired but that doesn't stop him from having some very interesting thoughts about what happened to Ellery.

“Does this mean I’m meetin you in a dark alley with the evidence box an the files tonight?”

And it's good to see he's keeping his sense of humor too.  :)

Thanks Louise.

Yep, I know he'd prefer not to be center stage, but Joe really does know how to come through in a crisis.  And although he cares about Ellery, he's a lot more objective about him than Wes is.

But they're making headway on the Alamo case - or so it seems.  This just gets better and better!  Thanks, Louise!

now don't you be writing our Sheriff off so quick.  He didn't get to be Sheriff because of his pretty face you know!

Pretty face!     Can you imagine saying to Wes?  Nope, never underestimate Wesley Brown!

I just figured that you ladies who study the ins and outs of the Sheriff's department so carefully would appreciate that the discussion between Joe and Wes is a critical one for the denouement of the story.

Yeah, the ins and outs of this department...

I sure would like to be a fly on one of those walls at times. Thanks for letting us have a peek Louise.

And I had a feeling that conversation between Wes and Joe was important. The questions and conclusions that Joe was coming up with were just to big and Wes' dismissal of them too quick.

Gosh, Edna's such a tower of strength isn't she? And she knows Colson so well, how to talk to him, reassure him. It must be nice having an Edna in your life. I'm glad Colson showed his appreciation by giving her a hug, that was very sweet.

But...because she's such a strong woman, I never thought of her (or her shoulders) as frail.  :-\ It makes me wonder whether she maybe needs some reassuring too.
