The Great Tremblayan Migration--March 30, 2006. Happy 9th!
« on: March 30, 2009, 05:26:13 pm »

We celebrate the third anniversary of the great Tremblayan Migration that occurred on March 30, 2006!

Salute to all the original Tremblayans, and you know who you are!

(EDITED TO ADD: Tremblayan Migration definition:  Back in the day, intrepid IMDbers fled the trolls to the shelter fo the IMDb page of Assistant Director Pierre Tremblay, and from there to this lovely place.)

Here's the "joining order".  Interesting to see who is still here.  Tremblayans from March 30 starts on page 2.

Interesting. Not since Bliss and Mandy joined a year ago March 5-6, 2008, has anyone made a blip on the radar. Wonder why all those others have joined??

Four years...Damn!

My anniversary's tomorrow, but I didn't post until March 8, 2006. I held my tongue for two whole days, can you believe that? My first post was in One Man Men.

My fourth BBM anniversary will be on March, 21st. Still have the ticket stub to prove it. I made a collage of photos of my very first Brokie gathering  + Ennis + Jack + Dozy Embrace  + the ticket stub and put it into a frame. Right next to my desk. I see it every day. Above it is a painting Kerstin made for me of the bucking horse and rider, and around it are part of the Brokie postcards I received.

Four years - where has the time gone?

Ya Know, I really can't believe you held your tongue for two whole days! You always have something to say and it's always something worth hearin (or reading LOL).
Glad you finally started speakin. I know i'm the better for it!
It still amazes me the impact the story (  I mean the SS and the movie) had on so many people.
I'm so glad I am one of them and I am so glad I sound my way here.

What a great memento, Chrissi! You are a true blue Brokie! I was just looking at your picture of the Truck and the two cowboy hats yesterday and thinking, it's been too long since I've been to Wyoming!

Rich, yours is the most amazing and inspiring story to come out of Brokeback Mountain that I know of. I'm so glad for you and glad to know you!! (LOL on my holding my tongue!)

How cool is this (thanks for telling me Elle)?!?  I am officially registered here since March 28, 2006, and we know for so many of us, we were deep in the throes before we made it to this refuge.

I love that we're still a community of friends, and have turned virtual reality into plain old reality.  I still count the Cowboy Etiquette thread, and Performance Thread as some of the best fun I've ever had.

Your favorite memories from the past 4+ years?

LOVE, C

Welcome back, Oh Great Muse of BetterMost and "Moses" of the Tremblayans (as Clarissa put it so well! I wonder if that's where the word "mosey" came from?) Your post reminded me of something I had to add to the Cowboy Etiquette thread. It's so fun to revive those great Tremblayan threads we wrote before politics and fan fiction hit!!

That's funny, Lee!  The hardest part about being Moses-like is wearing the long white robe and everyone always wanting to know if you're wearing underneath it!!

I'm in the middle of some web re-design work at my job, and every single day I find out how much incredibly valuable information I learned about the internet and social networking and on-line everything from BetterMost and IMDb - we were starting off when everything on the web was exploding.

Remember when that NY Times reporter wanted to do a story on the Tremblayans?  He thought we were going in such a unique direction, and now - everyone's doing it.

Perhaps now I'll have some deeper feeling during the Passover Seder - always good to remember your own Egypt!

Member #7 here. Registered (Feb 16) way before I became a regular active member. However, I did come over - for good - from IMDB at the same time as Amanda on April 4th, so my 4 year anniversary is quickly approaching.

Happy anniversary Paul!

It's wonderful to see that most of us are still here. Many have left, or are checking in now and then, but therefore we have gained dedicated Brokies like our Swedes, Rich and many others (sorry to all I didn't name, but you know who you are).
I'm so glad you're all still here with me :).

Member 841!!! My 4 year anniversary was on April 3rd, the day before Heath's birthday  :-* :-* I don't post much, but I've been on at least once a week since I joined. I love all of you guys!
I was a BBM late bloomer, as I hadn't seen the movie until Jan 2007. I was actually too young to see the movie when it came out in theaters (I was only 16. Wow. I'm a baby  :o :o) so I didn't pay much attention to it until I came across it one day on HBO and decided to see what all the fuss was about. Pretty much changed way view on life and love and homosexuality. Um, it pretty much blew my mind. I was then obsessed with IMDb, until all the real threads kept getting lost and the regulars began to vanish. Then I found that glorious post with nothing but BetterMost. I knew it meant something big and when I finally pieced together the clues I found my new home.
Four fucking years.

Congrats everyone!!!!! On all of your anniversaries!!!!

Officially registered 6/22/06, but I was around from the start.  I, like several others here, was on IMDB when Phillip announced that he would create a forum for us Brokies to post without fear of personal attacks.  I don't know why I took so long to register, but I lurked for awhile before SFericSF told me I should register for an account.  I've been here since then.

I've been traveling and have been offline. Hard to believe it's been five years. Where does the time go?

My travels took me to San Francisco and I did have a chance to see the Castro Theatre (from the outside). So very cool...

The Castro is cool from the inside, as well, especially with Brokeback being shown on the big screen!

What was the Tremblayan Migration?
Was that a reference in the film?  Or was it another Brokeback forum?

Well, I wasn't here for the migration, but I believe it was a reference to when users left the IMDB board (internet movie database) because of the amount of negativity and trolls, and came here once the forum was up and running.

I'm so glad I am one of them and I am so glad I sound my way here.
 ;D

I'm so glad loneleeb (Rich) found his way here too. He was one of the successes that keeps me going. I'm sad that he has departed from us, but glad that he found happiness at last before he had to depart. In his first line above, he was ribbing me for joining on March 6 but then not posting until March 8...that's the most I said in two days!

Just a few more details about the Great Migration. As soon as the movie came out there was lots of buzz on the new IMDB site and many discussions, some of which are preserved on our own IMDB threads rewound forum. The movie attracted a lot of hate posts too, and it began to really bother the fans. So, some enterprising person decided to ask Pierre Tremblay if we could post on his IMDB page instead. Pierre was an assistant director for the movie. He graciously made a home for us there and chowhound invited me over there (even though for some reason the trolls weren't bothering me on the movie page). But eventually the trolls found us there too, and that's when Celeste invited me over to BetterMost. John and Phillip had established this quiet little discussion board and when the Tremblayans came over, we made quite a ruckus. But eventually we all settled down and built up this wonderful community!

I myself didn't participate in the Tremblayan era very long but I count myself as a Tremblayan because Celeste said that it was a self-selecting group. It seems somewhat fitting that Celeste (along with NewYearsDay and one or two others) led the Tremblayan Exodus, since she is now studying to be a rabbi!!

(Everybody feel free to correct any details I've forgotten or got wrong)

Yes I remember when everyone came over but didn't realise that was the name.
It was great to welcome you all.  I was never on IMDB but can't remember now how I found this forum, unless it was simply via a search engine.
It was sad to hear about what had happened on the other forum.

Today is the big day!! Congrats to all that migrated!!

I Joined 2007, the 5th of June. I stayed on IMDB forum longer than many, I can't really remember why. I was om IMDB for approximately 18 months. I got invited to come to BetterMost but I can't remember who invited me. Maybe SusieBell......

I have never posted much, my English is too bad. But I read and enjoy being a member. brokeback and BM opened the world to me in many ways.

Let's celebrate this day. And let's figure out a way to celebrate our movie and the impact it had - and has - in our lives!!The 10th anniversary is not far away!!

Thank you Kelda and Chuck!  :-* :-* I've always felt that my Swenglish is lousy and my spelling is bad - spell check is wonderful! Maybe I'm a bit over sensitive  ::) 8)

I've spent the entire afternoon rereading old posts from IMDB and I really enjoyed every minute. I even found my name there......  ::) :o So many brilliant posts and so much good reading. Also a feeling that I met old friends again!

Good times...... :-*
