Yes, I must admit when Lee mentioned "biting" I started wondering were we talking about the same thing here.

Over here in Oz, a "love bite" is usually on the neck or the UPPER part of the body....I think you may call it a "hickey" over there.

Same over here. I've heard the two terms used interchangeably. I think love bite may be more polite than hickey.  ;D
