Willie Nelson WAS a friend - He is now off the playlist!
« on: November 04, 2009, 12:44:39 am »
As discussed here:  http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,36828.0.html

and here:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388795/board/flat/149618807

After much thought about this, I have finally decided to remove all of Willie Nelson's songs, including the one from the movie, off of the playlist for Brokeback Radio.

And when the movie is shown in a theatre again and I am there, when *his* song comes on during the credits, I will yell FUCK YOU WILLIE NELSON!  >:(

Heya Eric,

I just discovered this Willie Nelson issue because of your thread here.  I'd missed the older one in circulation here at BetterMost somehow until now.  This really is disappointing.  And, I support your decision to remove Willie Nelson from Brokeback Radio.  If he's going to make fun of BBM, he really shouldn't be represented on a BBM platform like that.

I'm shocked and saddened that he'd record something like that. :(

Way to go, Eric! I also fully support your decision to pull him OFF the playlist. >:(

Willie Nelson would probably sell his own MOTHER up the river for a dollar and a beer.

F*ck him.

I usually skip over him whenever I listen to the soundtrack.

Listen to this instead:

OMG, I just listened to that song on YouTube. What's the hell's the image that stays on the screen during the video?  It looks like a blood-spattered wall (how appropriate!).

Every time I watch BBM from here on out, either on DVD or in a theatre, I plan to boo when WN's song plays at the end.  It gives a whole new meaning to the past tense in the song title ('well he was a friend of mine -- or so I thought....")

Or just turn it off. That;s what I plan to do. Once the final scene fades I'll turn it off. I don't want to hear that shit anymore. Or any of his other songs either.

And now, I think it is time to go to the next step. We need a new soundtrack! The old soundtrack had missing songs, put too much emphasis on the opening theme, and, worst of all, contains the wrong version of "He was a friend of mine"! Will you take this on, friend ERic (after the Paisley concert, of course)?!?!
