Yes, I see, thank you. I was about to post them myself... but I am glad to see you got to it before I did.

I do have one correction, the poem you have entitled "Jack" is actually entitled "But...", but it is a small matter and not something I intend to quibble over. Yes, the poem is about Jack, but I love pulling the artist's stroke, and taunting the audience... What or who is this poem about? Can you guess before I tell you?

Now, as for the last poem: "Lonely", I believe I had asked if anyone saw anything unusual about it. It is a special type of poem, and I was wondering if anyone else could see it.

As far as me not seeing the posts, these boards are much more difficult to read than the IMDB boards, at least for me. So it may be necessary to pull a "Crash" and hit me over the head with something, shouting "Hey, dummy, over here!" before I can see something... Love ya all, more poetry may be on its way. At least I've got a place to put it now, where it will be appreciated.

Why do we consume what we consume?
Why do we believe what we believe?
Why do we accept what we accept?
You have a body, a mind, and a soul.... You have a responsibility.

A Sinking Island

Such words were never
More painful than
For me to hear
That you wish you knew how to quit me
Am I so wrong for you?
I've tried, Jack, I've tried so hard
To love you for our brief moments.
But for these you weren't satisfied.
You always wanted more
More than I could give, More than I would dare
Your bright soul danced the heights of sky
But you never looked back
Could you not see that I could
Not go as far as you.
Some inner anchor held me here.
Some genuine terror.
You never saw it, never addressed it.
You just wanted more and more
But I could not give you what you wanted:
Free, unabashed love - because I
Know the darkness and the anguish of the flame
But despite these I have loved you.
In my own special way, making all this
Special time
For us.
Sometimes there's no time to make
Hourglass sands flow through
I cannot catch them, though I want to
And give them over
To you.
But you could not appreciate
Everything I did
Though you knew how much it cost me
And what is left for us.
And yet you turn away from what we have.
It's solid and it's real.
You want so much more than either of us
Can give. You want a dream.
I am no dream, Jack, I'm here and now
But you look off into distant horizons
You see palaces of cloud
You see things that were and things
Which could be, but never things as they are.
I am here, I am solid, I am making
My love known. I make sacrifices every day.
But it is not enough.
You demand more than I can give, because I
Do not have it to give. But I am still here; thats
All I know. Your smile lifts my day, but I
See it less and less.
And now you pull away, you try to distance yourself.
And as you go, supports crash around me
Everything crumbles.
I was here. I was solid, but what am I now?
Without your love, I'm nothing, you are my
Inner soul. How dare you take away from me
What once was grand and special! It has
Sustained me through the years, allowed me
To continue.
I was stable and secure with your love's anchor
But with the anchor gone, I am nowhere.
Why do we consume what we consume?
Why do we believe what we believe?
Why do we accept what we accept?
You have a body, a mind, and a soul.... You have a responsibility.

Thanks for reposting that, Daniel.  I love your Ennis point of view.  Is the last part new?  It sounds different to me.

Hmm, I don't think so. It should be the same exact thing I put up on IMDB... If there's a difference, maybe the end got cut off when I copied it.

When Hearts Proclaim Their Victory.
« Reply #14 on: April 10, 2006, 01:19:39 am »
When hearts proclaim their victory,
What will be left of land and sea?
Who can tell? Not I. Nor me.

When hearts proclaim their countenance,
How shall we then begin to dance?
And look upon the soul at glance.

When hearts proclaim their wise,
Will we see with more than eyes?
Or be lost within a maze of ice?

When hearts unite the common good,
Will we then know personhood,
Or still desire to spill red blood?

When hearts proclaim their victory.
It will be a mark of history
that changes everyone. You will see!

Not one of my better poems, but I think it is a little nice one.
