Actor Pernell Roberts has died
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:50:19 pm »
I dimly remember him as Adam Cartwright on Bonanza. I knew him much better as Trapper John, M.D.

This is a nice, albeit a bit cheesy, tribute to Pernell, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Pernell Roberts was my introduction to the fact that people age.

One night, when I was a teenager, my mom and I were watching TV, and all of a sudden, she wailed, "Pernell Roberts, what happened to you?!"  I said, "Who's Pernell Roberts?"  The spreading, bald guy on the TV.  She remembered him (and lusted a bit, I suspect) looking like that perfect sample that Paul posted.

Now when I see people I haven't seen in several years, every now and then, I say to myself silently, "Pernell Roberts!"  I myself have doen a Pernell Roberts, though I do have hair.

R.I.P.

I can't bring myself to watch the 80th birthday tribute. This is how I want to remember Pernell Roberts. Thanks for posting the pic, Paul.

I hadn't yet reached my teens when I fell for Adam Cartwright. I loved the way he dressed in black. Soooo cooool! When everyone else had the vapours for Little Joe (Michael Landon), it was Adam who sent my heart racing. He had a wonderful on-screen presence and I loved his voice. I'm off to YouTube now, to conduct a search for Bonanza.

Rest in Peace, Pernell.

I grew up with Bonanza every Friday night.

RIP Pernell Roberts joining the rest of the family in the big Ponderosa in the heavens.
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection

I also grew up with Bonanza (it aired a some years later in Germany).
Now they're all gone. That's a sad thought.

RIP Pernell Roberts.

I loved his voice.

He did have a wonderful voice. They mentioned on the NBC news segment about his death that he had been a singer, and also had supported and marched for civil rights.
