Undertow - "Brokeback Peru"
« on: September 19, 2010, 04:10:42 pm »
I'm cross posting this from the Culture Tent forum, due to the significance with Brokeback Mountain:

Saw this last night.  It is a must see!  It's basically the same elements as Brokeback Mountian, but set in Peru.

Watch these two trailers.  The first one has no subtitles, but you get the idea of what's going on...

I read a rather comprehensive review of "Undertow"here:

http://www.afterelton.com/film/2010/06/undertow-review?page=0%2C0

This caught me:

Quote
There’s another scene that involves Santiago ending up beside the bed where Miguel and his wife are having sex. “I can’t help it,” Santiago says. “If you think of me, I show up.” Hilarious and insightful.

We know who Ennis always thought about when he was 'doin it' with Alma!
“Mr. Coyote always gets me good, boy,”  Ellery said, winking.  “Almost forgot what life was like before I got me my own personal coyote.”

Seems interesting.  Although it doesn't appear very original (a smattering of Ghost thrown on top of Brokeback) I would never-the-less like to check it out anyways.  Thanks for the spot light on this flick.
