I like "The Real World" on MTV. I also love Super Nanny (I think Jo Frost is absolutely charming).

I use to watch Amazing Race on prime time, but lately it conflicts with other shows I enjoy. GSN airs reruns of Amazing Race, so I usually watch it on there. My favorite Amazing Race was the one Reichen Lehmkuhl competed in (I forget which season it was). I thought Reichen was totally gorgeous. His lover Chip was cute too. Both of them are too hot for color tv.  8)

Most Haunted (I guess it is a reality show) is another favorite of mine. It is British and it airs weekly (Friday) in the U.S. on the Travel Channel. They investigate haunted castles and buildings throughout Great Britain, and occasionally outside of Great Britain.

Wife Swap is pretty good too, even though it is totally ridiculous and unbelievable most of the time.  :P

I like Super Nanny too..but I always think "good Grief what is wrong with those parents!" LOL

Have seen Wife Swap...is that the one that had the heavy lady that was SURE God was testing her...sending her off to that heathen house? She was hollering about rebuking the devil and tore up the check the show gave her? (Of course after she cooled down she accepted it!!)

There are some of the stars that I don't really care about, but I don't want to see their professional partner leave. Yeah, I don't really like Sara Evans either, but I love Tony. And I was glad Harry Hamlin left, but I love Ashly. I also want Jerry Springer to be able to stay on until he learns the waltz. That's so sweet about his daughter!

Any for America's Next Top Model? I could do without all the drama stuff, but I love watching the photo shoots and seeing the end results. Seeing the girls go through the "trainings" are a lot of fun too.

I haven't gotten into Amazing Race much. Survivor, a little. What's with all the Asian people this season? I've never seen so many beautiful Asian people in one show, outside of Asia.

Oh no!! Did Top Model already start and I MISSED IT?? I LOVE the photo shoots...and that blonde guy (can't think of his name) oh! and the dark haired guy on the panel...dang, I can't remember the names!

Today Rush Limbaugh was saying they HAD to desegregate Survivor because the white group was beating everyone else... ::) :-\

whatever!

LOVE Cowboy...I know he is a little out there BUT!!

I have become OBSESSED with the amazing race. It only shows once a week on cable channel living tv at 1pm on a Saturday - on their 'hangover TV line up'.

And I have only seen the Freddy and Kendra season and part of the next season where Uchenna and Koyce win ( I know they win cos I've been looking up the internet and reading the commentarys folk have written!)

Have Uchenna and Joyce had a baby yet? I hope they do!

As soon as our new laptop gets its wireless broadband connection (on 8th)  I'm going to start downloding all 10 series' from bit torrent or seomthing and onto some DVDs to watch.. I LOVE that show! I want to be on it!!! I so wish I could do more travelling so I have to do it vicariously through others at the moment!!!

(I also looovvve ANTM)

okay - I'm going to keep posting on here since no-one is talking to me..

I see the new amazing race starts soon. I think I will be downloading each week.
I can't wait to get my laptop up and running on the net so I can use bit torrent!

The all star line up has 2 lots I know but c'mon do Rob aand Amber need to be in so many reality shows!?

How many is that now - 4 each 2 survior and 2 amazing race? I think thats a little unfair.

ANTM starts shortly again here - the season that i belive has just finished in the USA....

Was watching ugly Betty last night - only in its third epsiode here and Betty's little nephew was at a photo shoot and said:

"It's like Top Model - except there's no crying!"

I never really got into 'un-reality tv' shows that much ..  :P

I saw about 2 episodes of the Amazing Race 2 years ago, they were good, but since I haven't seen the show since then, it mustn't have made a big  impression.
I also saw an episode of America's Top Model once, there was a girl there who was a size 2 and she was told she was fat .. that an Tyra Banks is a wee bit irritating to me .. so I never went back.  :P

And Survivor - I have tried but I really doesn't work for me either .. sorry for the soggy reviews guys.   8)

Maybe I'll like super nanny!!  ;)

I'm with Milli on this - I have not been able to get into any of the reality TV - I've tried Survivor numerous times and various Idol versions. (A good friend frequently has them on when I'm over and woe to me if I call during one of them!)  There's something about the whole trend that rubs me the wrong way - like they appeal to the lowest common denominator of humanity, or something (?).  Then there's my suspicion that these shows are actually much cheaper to produce than shows requiring artistic talent  ::).

OK - I'll take my elitist a$$ elsewhere now ;).  Y'all enjoy!

I think that the 'reality' show craze really went too far when there were shows like: "Marry my dad" , "Fire me" (or something like that) and a hundred others like these .. I must admit, the last time "American Princess" came on a channel I was watching, I almost broke my TV .. lol, I shut it off so fast!  So I guess that about sums up my reaction, really.   :P

And like Lynne, I'll take my butt elsewhere now ..  8)

well my my!! let us all be a bit prejudiced and paint all reality shows with the same tar brush and throw some feathers on 'em!!

   ;)

Seriously, there are bad reality shows and there are good realitly shows....Just like with every genre. I loathe horror movies....but am willing to concede there are some that are good while there are some that STINK up the place.

"the Amazing Race" to me is the best reality show out there; because it doesn't REQUIRE that people do humiliating things to win....yes, people get into fights but that is because of their own personality and their reaction to circumstances...it is interesting to see the different cultures (and their reactions to those cultures) and the challenges are usually just activities that locals do as a matter of course.

And I am thoroughly looking forward to the new season!

I like Survivor, and I like Cowboy U.

If that makes me a moron? well, I never pretended to be real smart myself....I watch TV for entertainment.

PS I am fully aware that they edit and present the shows in a certain way...that is kinda the point. I KNOW that what I see is not necessarily what happened...it is escapism; not a documentary. and anyone that goes on one KNOWS what they are getting into...

Good Lord no that's not what I meant.  I completely understand how entertaining these shows can be, and there are some I do watch, like AR and Top Chef.  My observation was pointed toward the shows themselves, and the contestants who try to ride that 15 minutes way too long.

You are so far from being a moron it isn't funny.  Please accept my apology.

The Amazing Race is the BEST SHOW EVER!   :D

I love it !  love it love it!       I even loved the family edition where they stayed in the United States only.     There is so much beauty right here, yet it was one of the unpopular seasons I heard.   Oh well.  Can't please them all I guess.

I also like Survivor.  Haven't missed a season yet.

MTVs Real World can be interesting too.  Plenty of horny eye candy there!

I am also in serious withdrawal from LOST right now!    :(

the problem I had with that is it seemed unfair to pit a family with little kids against a family of teenagers...I just couldn't watch those earnest kids trying so hard to keep up...bothered me because I know how kids internalize things and I worried that they would blame themselves for their family losing...

other than that it WAS good...(and I am very happy they stayed in the US for that one...)

Okay - so I am up to half way through the 4th episode of Amazing Race 10. So am up to the bit where they are in Vietnam and are doing the rowing detour and either have to go Over or Under. Either by collecting pearl baskets or colelcting supplies.

So far I really like David and Mary - so glad they will be in the all stars edition. They are just so cute and nice! Like when they gave Lyn and Karlyn(?) their leftover water as they didn't need it in the 'fill it up' task.

They are really enjoying the race and seeing & doing new things and meeting new people and not being overtly competitive. I like that in a team and always love the underdogs. (I'm a big woose)

I loved when they saw the dragon dancing and she was like - Look David - its like you see on TV! Good on them for getting up from their sofa in front of the TV and trying out for the amazing race and actually going for it against all those other over competitive couples.

I got a bit teary over the father/daughter when they left - nice to see they have healed their rift over her sexualoty and have moved forward.

One thing I have to say though is that i think its a little unfair some of the very physical tasks they've had to do so far. That climbing of the great wall of china before the pitstop I thought was unfair - all the strong tems managed to catch up and pass all those teams who had got there first but were struggling to complete the challenge. and then there was another climbing challenge on the pit stop - the girl with no leg was really struggling there too.

This is not AR related, but I saw a piece on MSNBC this morning about Idol.  A former contestant pretty much blew the lid off what we all secretly knew was going on.  Apparently, we really don't see the true 1st round of competition.  The 1st round consists of groups of 5 people going in all at once and singing for no more than 10 seconds.

Out of those they keep not only good singers, but also choose the "train wrecks" that we end up seeing on the show.  What does this say to me?  Yeah...we are being pandered to, and this show in particular is employing the "lowest common denominator" theory.  I don't think I can watch this anymore knowing that they are going out of their way to humiliate people.  Sure, I know...they show up...they get what they deserve, but where is the line drawn?  This year there were folks who obviously had mental and emotional challenges, and they were put out there for all of us to ridicule.

since William Hung I think some of the people are being deliberately as bad as they can be hoping to be the next Hung...it is much crueler this year I agree. Getting old; I haven't watched but a couple of hours this year

On the Amazing Race, some of my favorite teams are the parent & child teams.    I am always happy to see the reaction of the son/daughter when they see their father/mother perform scary or physically challenges.   I always end up balling my eyes out when they get eliminated and they are hugging and crying saying how much more now they know about eachothers abilities.

Another favorite team was an older couple that actually made it to second place.   They out performed and out smarted the younger teams and only lost because they couldn't outrun two young college boys to the finish line.

I remember one challenge was to assemble a bicycle.  The young teams all had trouble.  The older couple assembled it in just minutes!   The Father said:"You know how many bikes I have assembled on Christmas Eve to surprise the kids?"

Also, the same episode, most of the teams put gasoline in their Diesel trucks.  As the trucks all stalled, the younger teams were frustrated and called tow trucks.  The older father climbed under the truck, pulled off the fuel line to drain the tank, then walked two miles to a gas station to buy the right fuel.   Smart eh?

I was so hoping they would win.    But in the end, you know a young team usually wins because it is a sprint to the finish line.

The girl who was a "Little Person" was great too.   That was so funny when she ran into the Pyramid in Egypt and didn't have to duck and crawl like the others!

As much as I love the show, I could never be a contestant.    Some of the physical challenges are too difficult or scary.    Plus I could never shoot a flaming arrow to save my life!    LOL!

did you see the one where they had to unroll the bales of hay? I felt so sorry for that one girl that unrolled like twenty and NEVER found a clue....that would be MY luck!!

Anytime the host has to go and tell them all the other teams are already in; instead of THEM coming to him is just heartbreaking!

Oh yeah Jess! she was there for like 8hrs wasn't she but refused to give up even though she was aware she had lost and then Phil had to come and tell them they had been eliminated. That was PURE bad luck.

heh - David - i watched the flaming arrow one last night - my aim is terrible so I think it would have taken me a good while!!

yeah - I bawl at the nice - I know him so much better and hes a friend as well as a parent - moments too.. You're not alone!

I'd love to be contestant - and at least give it a try - I've done a bungee jump and abseiling and things so I certainly don't think I'm scared of things - but the physical tasks might well test me (and I'm USELESS with a map ) but one thing for sure is that I'd have no trouble driving like these folk that don't know how to drive a 'stick'!

I lLOVE reality shows !
In England the main ones are Big Brother , Strictly Come Dancing ,Dancing on Ice.
I have sky so i`ve seen the Real World and The Next Top Model one. I`ve never heard of the Amazing Race it sounds good.  Big Brother has just finished it was a celebrity version where 13 sort of famous people share a house 24hrs a day , they must complete tasks to win a weekly shopping budget . Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty has just won this series , with Jemaine Jackson coming 2nd.  The caused an international insident , and many complaints to TV watchdog as Shilpa appeared to be the victim of racist bullying , it was terrible, and did blight what is usually compulsive Tv.  A new series starts soon where just normal people go into the house.

Celebity Love Island is also good , lots of beautiful people gettin naked !
Watching `So You Think You Can Nurse` at present , very good. xx
It`s not the breaths you take , it`s what makes you lose one !

So I fifnished watching TAR 10! (Looveeeee whoever downloaded it all on to you tube!) As I say I love the underdogs and I really liked how the cho brothers stuck to being nice during the race.... no matter if it meant they might lose.

James and Tyler won the race well, as did rob and kim. And the bama girls didn't do too bad either - shows you don't have to be super fit or duper fit to do well in this either.

so glad sarah and peter got put out early - that Peter was a ASS! He was so obnoxious and thought he was better than everyone else. and the way he constantly nagged nagged neagged at sarah. I think I would have smacked him idf I had been her. Thank goodness she said - eh - you'rew dumped at the end of it!!!!

Can't wait for TAR 11 to start. I think season 3 is also on you tube so me thinks I'll start watching that shortly!

Survivor (the UK version didn't do well here and we never see the US versions over here)

I still have all of TAR S11, S1-5, & S8 and part of TAR S7 and S9 to watch - that will keep me busy for quite a while!!!!!

You can just give me the highlights of survivor on this!!

Yup.  Survivor: Fiji   premiered last night.   A few new twists to the opening and how they separate the two teams.

I'm kinda disappointed in the players. Not a super hot guy among them this year!  :(

Smart eh?

I saw that last night David - Terri and Ian. I can't believe 4 teams made that mistake. It clearly said ' Diesel' on the hubcap.

AR All stars starts Sunday with you, yes? I hope to download it on Monday/Tuesday and watch it almost in real time with you guys. I hope the all stars doesn't runi the concept of the show.

For me, I'd be in the race to see & experience the world rather than the $1million.

Of course - if they handed he money to me when I won - I wouldn't say no!

So have any of the survivor boys grwon on you David!?

Okay so I watched the first episode.... and I'm going to talk about it so incase you haven't seen in yet.... don't look below this sentence.....

I was suprised at John Vito and Jill's departure... I just watched season 3 on you tube and they were a stong team... and they certainly seemed to be getting on fine and working as a team well despite their break up. Just shows you in this game that a little mistake can indeed cost you the game. When he said an hour in that direction I may have been tempted to double check.

i think the bald gauys will be out next....

and amber and rob were first and won a holiday to Canada - like they need it! gha! why can't they have one a cemera like thy did in season 3 or something *evil laugh*

Did you see David and Mary's t-shirts - it had the Cho Bros on it!!!

Season 3. Is that the one with Riechen and Chip?

Maybe they were in Season 2 or Season 4. All of these different Seasons and races are running together.

Riechen was HOT!  :)

Phil Keoghan Interview
« Reply #69 on: February 21, 2007, 07:14:56 am »
Found this on IMDB

Phil Keoghan is heading into his 11th season as host of “The Amazing Race,” and this time it’s “All-Stars.” Phil took a minute while sitting in L.A. traffic last week to talk about the show, how the all-star teams were picked, what he thinks of Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest, and how he stays ahead of the pack.

Q: How did you go about picking teams for “The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition?”
A: After 10 seasons and more than 100 teams, we really had some great teams to pick from, and I think it’s good that we waited for at least 10 seasons before we did it. There were just certain teams that were must-picks.

Q: Who stands out the most?
A: The one team I’ve been asked more questions about in all the press I’ve done around the world for the show is Charla and Mirna. They just really captured people’s imagination and they’ve been the most talked about, most celebrated team in the press.

Q: So they were in. Where do you go from there?
A: Then you build on that and get a sense of who everyone’s talking about. I had 15 teams on my wish list that CBS asked me to do, and 10 of those teams [on my list] correlated with the casting people’s choice. The Eric and Danielle combination was the only one that didn’t, and they had been on two different teams originally. And that was a great idea of casting to throw a little something different in the mix.

Q: But you couldn’t get everybody?
A: Certainly there are teams you would love to see come back -- the bowling moms, Karen and Will, Colin and Christie [and many more]. That’s what the casting people were grappling with, of course. You’ve also got to create the right mix of those teams. You’re got to have the antagonists, the heroes, the cruisers, gay, straight, white, black, short, tall, Democrat, Republican. It’s a clever thing that the casting people do, and at the end of the day you’ve got to trust the casting people. They’ve got it right 10 times, why not now?

Q: One team that’s been vocal about being left out was B.J. and Tyler [the hippies]. What did you think about that?
A: Well, the casting people had to make some difficult choices. On their own, absolutely I would think of them as an all-star team, but some teams are just not going to make the cut. It’s tough to know that we couldn’t put all the great teams in. Obviously, in terms of buddies, two guys, the casting people chose to keep The Guidos [Joe and Bill], Kevin and Drew, and Oswald and Danny.

Q: And, of course, Rob and Amber are back.
A: There’s no way you could leave them out. If they weren’t in the lineup, you’d be asking the question, “How could you leave them out?” But if you’re saying to me that we’re looking for the most talked about, sometimes controversial, engaging team, then they have to be in there. They’re a team that really polarizes fans. Some people don’t have a lot time for them, and there are people that really love them.

Q: What is it about Rob that makes him so engaging to watch?
A: The intensity that he has for competing. He has an attitude that some people might read as arrogant, other people might read as really energizing. It’s so subjective, isn’t it, what you think of people? Why is it that we have a president that polarizes people’s feelings so much? It comes down to a personality thing. It’s all in how you perceive people. I think [Rob’s] interesting to watch on television and we would be remiss in leaving them out because even people who don’t like them are interested to see what’s going to happen to them.

Q: How did you feel about the idea for “The Amazing Race” when it first came up?
A: To be honest, I felt then that if you get to host a show like this, just get to do it once, and go around the world, it would be an amazing experience. And it was perfectly in line with the sort of stuff that I love. Up until that point, I’d spent 16 years on the road, so the idea of shooting around the world wasn’t new to me. But doing something of this scale was certainly very exciting and, to me, very original. I’d never been a part of something of this scale. There was a lot of risk involved, in terms of none of us knowing how it was going to work out, and is it realistic for us to be able to finish a show in this amount of time?

Q: How has it turned out?
A: I never thought I would be having this conversation with you now, 11 seasons later. It’s not that I wasn’t positive about the possibilities, but if you’d said to me then, before we even did Season 1, that we’d be doing an All-Star version of “The Amazing Race” in 11 seasons, I would have said, “Hold on a minute. You don’t understand what we’re talking about here. This is a lot of people going around the world.” I feel lucky to be part of it. I missed out on “Survivor” to get this, and I remember thinking after that, what else could come up that I’d really want to work on? And this was very in synch with my interests and pushing people out of their comfort zones. In this book I wrote, the first big chapter is about facing your fear, and there are others about taking a leap of faith and testing your limits. All of those themes are part of what “Race” is about. It’s not like I’m hosting a home makeover show, say. That’s a great show, but it’s not where my area of expertise is.

Q: I didn’t know you were in the running for hosting “Survivor.” Can you explain that one?
A: My understanding is that it was between Jeff [Probst] and I for the “Survivor” job. I’d known Jeff for a long time, we’d worked at Fox together. And Jeff and I ended up sitting outside [then-CBS President] Les Moonves’ office at one point, joking about how crazy it was that we were both going in to meet Les. Obviously, I didn’t get that job, he got the job. There was no doubt I was disappointed. I knew it would be a fun show to do. It was an amazing format and I knew it could be a great franchise. But “Race” came up not too long after that, and with the same network, and it’s great. “Race” is more in synch with my area of expertise. I’ve been traveling since I was 2. My dad was scientist and he traveled around a lot.

Q: So you’re okay with how things turned out?
A: I can’t imagine the show without him now. He’s just become such a part of the fabric of the show, I can’t imagine the show without him. Everybody’s trying to, like, create a little rivalry between us, and work out who’s gonna kick whose **bleep**, and who can outwit and outlast the other. And I tell people we actually like each other, respect each other. It’s true. We’ve known each other for long time and we try to support each other in the different things that we do.

Q: Which show do you think is more difficult [to host]?
A: One of the things I’ve been trying to do is get together with him to talk about our experiences. I don’t know a lot about what his life is like on “Survivor” out there, wherever he is. I’ve always wanted to know what it’s like, so I can’t really make an accurate assessment of that. I think they’re both quite different in the sense that we’re constantly moving and his job is about being in one place. I have a lot of respect for him. There are a lot of hosts, but not a lot of very good hosts, and I think Jeff is good, and Ryan Seacrest [on “American Idol”] is, in a different way, because he has a different kind of host approach. I don’t know what it is that separates good from very good, but Jeff and Ryan are very good hosts.

Q: So you watch “American Idol?”
A: I don’t really watch any TV, but it’s probably the only show I end up watching because I want to hang with my daughter [who is 11], so I watch that show.

Q: People think you’re showing your personality more in recent seasons. Why is that?
A: I don’t think it’s a matter of me choosing to show my personality, but the show choosing not to cut more of my personality out. I don’t feel like I’ve really changed. When the teams get to the mat, I mess with them big time. We talk about stuff that wouldn’t even make it to the air because it’s so risqué. I’ve never worked so hard on a show where I do so much stuff, but it’s not like there’s a huge amount of that put on camera. The show is tight, so there’s not a lot of room for that.

Q: So some people have the wrong impression of you?
A: Some people haven’t seen any of my other shows and it’s like they’re surprised by the idea that I mess with the racers or even have a sense of humor. But if you ask any team about the mat chat … we talk about all kinds of things. I love working with people in front of a camera, working off the cuff and just going with it. My favorite part of “Amazing Race” is meeting teams at the mat, talking to them, feeding off their enthusiasm. I’m excited for them to be on the show.

Q: What’s it like for you to shoot the show and stay ahead of all the teams?
A: People always say to me, ‘You must go shopping or go hang in your hotel or just chill when teams going to their challenges.’ I think it’s because the show comes on once a week, and people think there’s all this time in between. But do you realize this show is shot in 28 days? The whole season, 13 shows, 50,000 miles plus -- that’s an average of [just over] two days per show, and I’m going where they’re going, so do the math.

Q: Which was the toughest?
A: This season was the most grueling on me, physically. Just the scheduling and the hours, the loss of sleep, my bag got lost for five days. I lost a lot of weight. I always lose weight [during the race], but this one really knocked me and a lot of people around.

Q: You have to wait for all the teams to leave on a leg before you can head out. How do you catch up?
A: Obviously, we know where we’re going, but [sometimes] I’ve got to go straight to the pit stop, meet the first team and try to work out where there’s a gap [between incoming teams] to go shoot a detour or a roadblock.

Q: When is it most difficult?
A: In the pit stops when you’re just hanging, waiting for a team. That’s the only time that we stop, and sometimes you’re in a desert at the end of a road and the only place to sit down is a cooler or a production box, and you’re using an umbrella to shield you from the sun and getting absolutely roasted waiting for these teams. But it seems like every time we’re in pit stop that’s glorious with a beautiful house, all the teams check in within a half an hour.

Q: And you’ve had some close calls, where you barely made it to the mat before the first team did, right?
A: It happens a lot, actually. More than people would realize. I got detained in a Ukraine immigration office once from 2am to 10am. And I made it to the pit stop, just barely. But there was a point where they didn’t know what they were going to do [if I didn’t make it]. Fortunately, one of the women from the embassy was a huge fan of “Amazing Race” and managed to get me a visa in record time.

so what did everyone think of episode 2?

Drew & kevin - I haven't seen season 1 yet but Drew did not look well IMO. Loved how they pulled themsaelves out if the ditch tho!!

I would have preferred if ken and gerard from season had got the 'funny older guys' spot... if he wasn't well he mustve known before the race...

Enjoyed this episode but what was with the Mirna going crazy with the taxi driver??!  'take all my money'

Another great episode as always.   Yeah, Mirna and shmirna were abit out of control there.

It was cute how the older gay guys asked to hug Phil because all the girls get to.   LOL

I don't care how many bags Rob and Ambuh have with them.   If the Race has them come thru MY airport.  I'm slowing them down for some thorough screening!     LOL

"Gee Rob.  We can't seem to find your passport.  Are you sure you placed it in a grey divesting bin?"

"Hey Rob & Ambuh.   Here is a ROAD BLOCK for ya.  Which one of you wants to step behind this curtain for some additional screening."   As David snaps on his rubber glove.

you don't REALLY have the rubber glove do you David....I mean if you had Brad Pitt all alone for half an hour...might be fun...but I just have this vision of the average traveler... :o 8) :P

if you did have to ...you should get WAY extra pay!!

LOL!

I joke around with passengers all the time.   Especially if they are cute guys.    If they are travelling with someone else, I'll ask the other person: "Is this guy giving you trouble?" and point to the hot guy as I'm snapping my glove on.   LOL.

Most girlfriends or wives will smile and say:"I've never seen this man before in my life".    Causing the guy to stand there with his mouth open.   LOL.

RE:  Episode 3.

Yeah,  I was sorry to see Team Kentucky eliminated.    I was surprized that he was afraid of the fish!   LOL.

Teri and Ian are good racers.   They came in second place on their first race.   They would have won, but a much younger team caught up with them at the sprint to the finish line.

Of course we had the mandatory "shirt off" scene for the boys.    Nice pierced nipples on whats his name.

oh yeah and eric with the nipple rings (good bod too!)...

I'm having a debate on (sharp intake of breath) another bulletin board - Tarflies - about whether Danielle and Eric are actually a ouple - the romour mill is that they were a) nevr a couple or b) split up before the race or b) split up after the race or c) still together. I rekon they are a couple personally but thats just me.

I lwas surprised at the fish too but thinking back they did mention the water problem when they did the boat task last season - some of the faces of the people doing the task as the fish flap about are CLASSIC!

I really hope Romber go next week and let someone else have the limelight.

heh. I know YAY!!! Hugs.. and then he was like you've both won ...

and they were like hunh? Me thinks the may sell them and use the dosh to enjoy a holiday with their hubbies!

I loved Teri and Ian so was sad to see them go - EXTREMELY bad luck for them rather than bad racing.

Must say, the 'storm' which kept Mirna and Charla from racing across the sea initially was an obvious staller to keep the teams a little closer together - but I beleive there is 17 hours between Mirna and harla and the Guidos - I don'#t see how they can catch up. Mirna and Charla would have been 4 hours into the next leg before the guidos even got to the pit stop. (unless it was an extended pit stop). Mr Phil would have been racing to get to the next pitstop before them!!!

A 17 hour lead is unusual, but they could lose it quickly if things get screwed up at the next airport.    Or sometimes they show up just as a place closes and have to wait 12 hours till the next morning when it reopens.     The "Storm" delay did sound kinda lame.   Although those were small boats and if the winds picked up they could have been blown over at sea.   That would have been potentially disasterous.   So maybe the local authorities told the show producers not to take the risk.

Do any of you watch Deal or No Deal" on NBC?

If you don't, you should. I've been watching it for awhile now, and it's very good. I've been watching it nightly on CNBC.

So the Guidos are out  :'(

Is this the first time TPTB has made it so obvious when the race was actually run? There was Christmas trees in hotels and all sorts...

I quite liked that one of the lead teams was kept back – it is a race and this made it clear that you even have to race to a clue box to be in it.

Re: Charla – why the hell did she not hold the reins a bit further up – I checked it wasn’t cos she was small that caused her to hold on to the reins so loosely. If they had been tighter she would have had more control over the horse. Her little tip over was quite funny though… (But Mirna wouldn’t have really known at the time the task – maybe if they had known she would have done it.)

I also liked Eric’s Miss California comment – classic – and Go Danielle for finishing that sausage before Eric!

Having been to Auschwitz, I have to say I expected nothing less from the racers with regard to their emotions – I defy ANYONE – yes even a ‘dude’ like Eric - to go there and not get upset – even only doing the minimal things they did there. You really do feel like there are hundred of souls forcing down on you as soon as you get there. This place is in the middle of the country but you’ll see no wildlife, no birds flying ahead. Its just eerie. I cried along with them all as it reminded me how painful that place is. And I have no relatives who were involved. But I would say – if you are in the area – do go. While it was a painful experience it does remind you how good we have it and how we should not let anything like this happen ever again. It makes me waonder why we aren’t doing more in places like Rwanda.

Another reason for the bus bunching (as well a allowing the Guidos etc to catch up) I believe is so they could film at Auswitz at night. It’s fairly busy during the day -even at that time of year. This would have a) caused spoilers and b) disrupted all the people there visiting.

Re: Polish people – they are soo friendly! Having been in both Warsaw and Krakow they are very very helpful – perhaps they just don’t like screaming and/or TV cameras and thats why the didn't help Charla/Mirna.

Oswald and Danny should have got the prize. Uchenna and Joyce already have a $1million!

Hey Kelda! Yeah, the British are geniuses with game shows. I love the Weakest Link too, which is another British game show.

We have an American version of "Deal or No Deal" here. It is hosted by Howie Mandel. I've been watching it for about a year and a half now. It's a very good game show.  :D

So the Guidos are out  :'(

curse reversed wrote:

OH NO!      My digital recorder was set for one hour of the RACE!     I missed the second half of the show!     :o

What happened?

What did Uchenna and Joyce  win?

ARG!      >:(

Okay so where did you see up to? Did you see the Guidos get a NEL?

The beauty queens started their leg before most had finished.

the next clue was for them to go to Auschwitz  (via a bunch by 2 charter buses 4 hours apart) respects to those that died there, then move on to another place to get the next clue - this turned out to be an intersection where U&J and O&D got there about 5 mins before the beuty queen.s - they teamed up and did a fast forward. The BQ's then had to wait for the next lot to arrive - for 4 hours... and they teamed up with charla and mirna. Eric and Danielle with the Guidos The detour was eat 24inches of polish sausage or bake & deliver some bagels - both did the eat challenge. Next was to go to a castle - there was a roadblock where one had to don a suit of armour and lead a horse a mile. all were neck and neck and the guidos actually finished 2nd last but the half hour penalty meant they were out.

Thanks Kelda!

I saw up to where the Guidos were running to the pitstop with Eric and Danielle.    Mirna and shmirna had just read the clue saying they had to go to  Auschwitz.

I think with your post I am pretty caught up.

I agree.  Uchenna and Joyce have already won a Million dollars.  Someone else should win this time.

oh and because U&J and O&D were on an interestion they arrived at the pitstop together - but only one couple could win the holiday prize. O&D gave U&J it because they hadn't had a first place and therefore a prize yet.

The Guidos were greta on the mat - its obvious hope in love they are and their emotions at Aus. was very real and heartfelt.

Ps - your on a change your name game today Ben - Dover!

I'm not sure what was up with the Polish people either. I've never been to Poland but my brothers wife is Polish. She has been in this country about 13 years. She's one of the sweetest people I have ever met.

I cringed when they said they were going to Auschwitz. It was however handled very well and I'm glad now they did it because some people in this world have no idea what happened. I have not been to Auschwitz but I have been to Dachau and I still remember how miserable I felt all that day.

Very sweet of Danny and Oswald to give their prize to Uchenna and Joyce. (Or I guess I should say THE prize)

I was saying over at TAR flies - Ucheena and Joye are a lovely nice couple - but they really don't bring any excitment to the mix.

Plus they'vr already one - nice that all 4 remaining teams are non winners.

It was really their own fault they went out. They should have known better than to try and connect in ne hour. silly. Particularly since this is the same airport that in the previous episode their tight connection made them miss the plane and it was even as tight as this one!

It's true that Uchenna and Joyce have won so I would be nice if another team won the money. I however enjoyed their calm demeanor and respect in contrast to a lot of the bickering. I know I would be one who would be flipping out quite frequently.

Enjoyed the Honk Kong tasks - how cool was the climbing up the bambo side while kung fu people flew about!?

I thought that task was cool also. They have had some good tasks this season.

I hope Danny and Oswald win. Second choice, Charla and Mirna. I know they flip out at times but I still like them. They have a lot of drive and guts.

Yeah some of the tasks have been cool - but have you not thought there has been a distinct lack of scary &/or more physical tasks? Particularly for all stars!

Anyone else notice the picture of the Danny & Oswald on Eric's butt at the Pit Stop? I didn't but someone mentioned ot on TAR flies and it was so bloody obvious when I watched it the second time! ROFL!!!!!

Very tense filled episode... I love D&O but I was feeling very tense for D&E...  and was like c'mon c'mon - count down you damn clock count down!

Eric and Danielle seemed more couple-y tonight than they have in a number of epsiodes...

(romours are they split up just before the race started).

and I loved the sky drop thing - how cool!!?!!- I have done that but indoors and only from about 20 foot!!!

So how did Danny & Oswald not have enough money for that leg when the others had the same amount?     Did they pay more for the high speed boat than the others?

Anyways,  i thought it was pretty clever of them to sell their YIELD priviledge.   They should have gotten more than $45 for it though.

I liked that they owned up to not being at their best that day and they didn't blame anyone for being last. Thought they showed a little class. (at the end)

Yeah - clever to sell the yield.

In the Malaysia leg 2 legs before Danny spent all their money buying papers in order to complete the roadblock task(I belive about $80) - this was to save him collecting them as he was tired and too hot. The next leg they spent all the money they were given and this leg they were given $75 but the costs in that leg were much higher - eg the ferry at the very start of the leg was $50 (everryone had that cost) and then they had all the taxi fares too.

The others just had been able to save money over all the previous legs so were not short on money.

D&O do show class.. I like their attitude to racing! enjoy relax have fun and be nice...

lol Jess!!

Yesterday was a strike day from work so I had some time on my hands and was watching some old TAR All Star clips from the CBS website... Eric has worn that tight top before but UNDER another tshirt.. dang it.. Danielle should be making sure he takes the extra tshirt OFF!!!

"So you want to sign up for Survivor next?"

Aww poor Danny and Ozzie..

I think fatigue got to them again.. I love them they are so funny.. I also watched abit of some CBS Amazing Race internet show and D&O were on it.. heh.. so many innuendos but so funny!

As I said, I had a lot of time on my hands yesterday as it was a strike day from work.. so i was watching the old AS clips on CBS.. I have to say after that .. and the fact thatD&O are no longer there.. I'm not rooting for D&E. Sure they are young and maybe have a lot to learn but I like em'..

so for me a finish that looks like this:

1 D/E
2 C/M
3 D/K

would be ideal... I just can't get into the total Dustin/Kandice love I'm afraid.. there is just something about them...

I think Dreamz is a lowlife.
He has absolutly no integrity what so ever!
I'm glad Earl won. He seems like a nice guy.

I agree that Yau-Man deserved some kind of consolation prize!  It was clear to everyone that he was not only the best player but the best-liked as well.  However, in past shows it hasn't always been the best player who won.  Sometimes it was just someone who hung out with the right people and was the last one left standing.

I can understand why Dreamz reneged on his promise to Yau, but the way he did it was despicable, pretending he'd done it as part of a plan, trying to look smart.  If Dreamz has brainz, they didn't reveal themselves in how he played the game.  ::)

I was just thrilled that neither Cassandra nor Dreamz got a single vote.  I think that says A LOT.  I would have much rather had You-man win, but Earl was my next favorite.  Some people are just good examples of how you can play the game without being a completely toxic human being.  It's people like You-man that keep me watching this dang show every season.  And you can bet I'll be there for China too.

Cassandra was nice, but a poor player.   Aside from not being able to swim, she did bad at every challenge!    She definately rode the coat tails of her team mates.   Just surviving because you stayed under the radar shouldn't get you the Million, although it has happened that way before.

I'm getting excited - I was reading some spoilers (and viewing some spoiler photos) for TAR 12 on TARflies.com tonight - ooohhhh!!!

Roll on TAR 12 I can't wait!!! Not only for thr race but for the gorgeous Phil!

I got sent a pic of him in full kilt wear by someone on TARflies - as he ws in Scotland a few week ago doing his put a golf ball across Scotland challeneg and I only found out about it at the last minute. I tried to find out via the forum if he was doing any book signings while in Scotland but apparently not - so I missed my chance to meet him!

But one of the TARflies mods is friends with Phil and sent me a picture of him posing in St Andrews at the end of the event (as she had emailed him on his blackberry to see oif he was doing any other public gigs). I wish I could share it but she asked me not to as she had not had clearance to do so. If anyone wants to do it I could send it via PM as long as no-one then fires it off on an email or posts it anywhere public.

Seems like unless there is a cancellation that it will be Jan/Feb time beofre tyhe new TAR hits our screens....

I'm sure they are doing that so it doesn't overlap with the "Survivor" series.

could be - its going to be 2 episodes shorter and with no non elimination legs this year. so I rekon there will be 13 teams.

Quote
From Variety:

CBS is singing the blues over “Viva Laughlin,” which has been officially canceled after just two episodes.
Emmy winner “The Amazing Race” will take “Laughlin’s” place in the Sunday 8 p.m. slot - where the reality show resided last year - effective Nov. 4. A repeat “CSI” will run in the time period next week.

JESSS!!!!! Are you listening No excuse to miss it! I've cross posted it in 2 places!!!

Okay - so i don't know how long this is since I'm at work and can't view it - but this is a link I got from tarflies.

It's the promo ad for TAR 12. I'd guess its no longer than 90 seconds.

[youtube=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0zrKCjLBxs&feature=dir[/youtube]

Apparently it has..... (and i can't wait to view this at home!)

Goth couple!
Lesbian ministers! (Seriously, TWELVE seasons to get a lesbian couple on?)
LA Blondes

I can't wait!

I think I remember seeing the Lesbian ministers, but I'm not sure. I will check these videos later. I'm on dial-up so they can take quite some time to load up. I love the Amazing Race.  :D

the African American (pullin a blank on his name) won 'favorite survivor" and got $100,000

the cafeteria lady? she lost her job and was working as a janitor....so Mark Burnett gave her $50,000 to get back on her feet.

NEXT Survivor is starting out with TWO tribes....one will be newbies the other tribe will consist of returning favorites from the previous Survivors but I didn't catch where it was going to be

James got $100,000 ?      He sure wasn't my favorite.  Although he did have the body of a greek god.   he he he.

I was mad at James for not giving Todd one of the imunity idols when it was Todd who told him where to find them.  Then he kept both of them for himself!    So when he got voted out and didn't use the idols I was happy.  Karma is a bitch and bit him in the ass.   So to give him $100 grand?    That's not right.

Todd did play the game well.  He outplayed and outwitted them all.  And that is all part of the game.   So he deserved the award.

He is now one rich Flight Attendant.  He can now sit in First class!  WOO HOO!   :)

Jeff asked him why he didn't use the immunity idols...they weren't any good when you got to down to the last five and he got voted out at eight? I think...

James said he was confident in his alliances...I was thinking "Have you NOT seen the show before??!"

Bio
Todd Herzog is an openly gay Mormon who came out shortly after high school and won the hearts of everyone at his school. He attended Pleasant Grove High School in Utah and then two years of college at Utah Valley State College. He currently works as a flight attendant. He previously worked as a manager at a movie theater and at a major theme park.

Herzog has previously lived in Seattle, Orlando and Denver. His hobbies include traveling, shopping and drinking coffee. He enjoys surfing, biking and boating. He's allergic to cats, rabbits and shrimp. He describes himself as fantastic, amazing, awesome and super-original. He believes he will do well on SURVIVOR because he claims he is very positive, great at social skills and strategizing, and he's willing to "gather wood and sh*t." He thinks the Spice Girls are the most significant historical event of the past 100 years and is unbelievably stoked that they are going on a reunion tour this winter.

Herzog currently lives in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He has one brother, Tyler, and three sisters, Brandy, Kimmi and Tori. His birth date is January 29, 1985.

I was very disappointed at the way Survivor turned out. I was for anyone in the world other than Todd. I apologize for saying this to anyone who did like him, but I absolutely despised him. In fact he is probably the most despicable character I have ever seen on Survivor or any other show I can think of. The arrogance, the obnoxious smiles, and the stupid facial expressions he always made were like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. And his bio pretty much explains it all. Can you only imagine having to be around that guy? I think I would eliminate myself just to get away from him if I were on the show

I beg to differ.  I think that Johnny Fairplay idiot from a previous season was the most dispicable player.   Especially with his dead grandmother lie.    Even without that lie he was nasty and sleazy.

Actually I didn't see that episode of Survivor, but from what you say, you are right he does sound disgusting. I'm glad I didn't have the displeasure of seeing him  :)

I didn't really follow Survivor: China, but I did watch the finale, and I was sorry Amanda didn't win.  She was very upfront and smart, too.

I hate it when you follow one of these series from the beginning and then get disappointed when someone you don't like wins it.  It happens more often than you'd like to think.   :-\

I feel I tend to jinx whoever I am for. I was for Aaron and never was really too much into the show after that deal they did where PG and whatever the blondes name was threw the challenge and voted him off. Of the final three I was for Amanda though. I just can't stand todd as everyone knows and courtney may as well be connected to him.
