Breaking News!!!

Our Messiah Concert scheduled for next month has been cancelled!

I am so relieved!

David, I believe the word for this is

Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Halle-e-lujah!

  I love singing the Messiah.  I'm going to find me one of them Messiah singalongs this Christmas season, where you don't have to practice, you just show up, they hand you a score, and you muddle through best you can.   A lot of fun.

Hallelujah indeed Clarissa!

Hallelujah and Thank God!  :D

There is NO WAY I would have been ready to play next month.... not on the cello.

David~

I know it's late but I was just passing by and thought I would sneak in and drop you off a little something for thanksgiving!   Much better than any fruitcake!  Enjoy!

Breaking News!!!

Our Messiah Concert scheduled for next month has been cancelled!

I am so relieved! Between Alex' visit last month, my job, my Dad and a whole host of other things, I haven't had any time to practice my cello. So, this comes as a huge relief for me.

They had problems coordinating with the choir scheduled to sing with my orchestra.

Whew. Now I don't have to worry about it.

I am so jealous of you David.  Between now and 12/25, I have 4 of them to sing.  At this point I could sing the damn thing with my eyes closed.  I can safely say, for me, it is the most lucrative and hideously boring piece of music I know.

All this talk of Handel's Messiah puts me in mind of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", which goes in part:

They say there was a sacred chord,
That David played to please the Lord,
But you don't really care for music do ya?
It goes like this: The fourth, the fifth,
The major fall the minor lift,
The baffeled king composing Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I have this tribute cd of his music I love listening to, much more than I do him singing his own music (bless his heart).

Ain't that the truth.  Rufus Wainwright recorded it a few years back.  I actually sang it (by request) last year at a benefit.  The original has like 10 verses.
