Now how is this fair? It's not. We EuroBrokies always have to wait for months till we can see new movies our fellow Brokies are talking about. For once now, there's a German film - and what happens? It's released in the US first. *grumble, grumble*

Guess what? The film started on Dec, 23rd 2010 in Germany!

My second 'ooops' moment this morning, and it's only 7:48am. ::)

So for once, the Europeans (or Germans at least) were better off, and I missed it, LOL. But at least the DVD is already out here, and cheap at that. On my list now.

Turnabout's fair play, Chrissi!! I've been scanning the art houses to see if this is starting but alas The Tree of Life is still playing around here!!

Just saw it.
Sorry, this is gonna be a bad review. :-\
Hubby, daughter and I saw it together and none of us liked it.
The idea of it was so nice, too bad it was ruined. The film tried much, much too hard to be artsy, intellectual, prized - whatever. Instead, it ended up with the worst mistake a movie can make: it was boring. :P
There were some nice scenes in it, but not enough to carry such an overly long movie, not by a far cry. Of the three main characters, one went on my nerves, to one I was totally indifferent, and only one of the three was at least likeable, but still boring.

****WARNING*************SPOILER**************************

On the upside, I liked how the relationship between the original couple developped: from bored almost-phlegm to understanding and sweet care for each other. Once they both had started an affair with Adam (the third guy) things started to liven up a bit (but it took way, way too long to get to that point). And of course I liked the idea of tolerance and understanding, of including a third person into their intimacy.

Well, thanks for trying, Chrissi!

Here's an odd question from the very odd me--I've still only seen the trailer--one of the images I thought beautiful was the bubble structures with the very large swimming pools--very striking! Do you know where that complex is? I'd like to know more about it, who designed/built it...

If you might know--??

Not odd at all. Or otherwise I'm just as odd as you are.
I was also fascinated by the pool, and looked it up. It's the Badeschiff ("Bathing Ship") in Berlin, built from the hull of a ship. It was part of an art project and the the artist is Susanne Lorenz.

In winter, as seen in the movie:

In summer:

Here's the english wikipedia entry about it:

I've never heard about Badeschiffe before, but they have a long tradition. For anyone who can read German, here's a very interesting article about it:

Thank you, Chrissi, très cool!

And thanks to you, now I've learned about the artist Susanne Lorenz!
