Hiya Sue!

You just go to Google and type in #1 song in and then enter your birthdate (I would enter 01/15/1969).

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

1/21/66 - "The Sound of Silence", Simon & Garfunkel

I can live with that, although I seriously doubt my straight-laced parents were listening to it on the radio on the way home from the hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma. I think they stayed permafrosted in the 50's.

Challenge indeed ...

I called up Billboard.com, looked for archives (near the bottom of page), selected the magazine for the week ending after my birthday (Nov 26, 1952), searched 'singles' (people born after 1955 can simply type in top 100 or hot 100) - result #3 got me "best selling singles", Then I went to You Tube and typed the #1 song from that chart, select embed, copied and pasted it in the YouTube icon and presto - nothing ...

However, now that Chrissi has shown me the errors of my way, here it is.

Joni James - Why Don't You Believe Me?

BTW, I hate that song. Don't much care for her body of work either; she had nearly two dozen top 40 hits in the 50's, this being her only #1.

It was a one-hit wonder band at the end of the disco era, but it sure was addictively fun to listen to and dance to.

Not quite

A Taste of Honey (the group) released 4 top 100 songs, with one getting to #41 and another, the remake of Sukyaki staying on the charts for nearly 6 months in 1981 and reaching #3

The things I know ...  ::)

Thank you for the correction, Sheriff.  I don't remember hearing anything but that one song from them, but I guess they were a 4-hit-wonder band, after all.    ;D

In the Mood.  One of the most popular songs in history.  I learned to dance to this record.  I love love love it.  It was one of the songs that were played by my high school during dance class.

I am really dating myself.  LOL   :-\     :-\

In the USA is was Jimmy Dorsey singing Besame Mucho
If I had heard that playing I think I would have decided being born was not much chop ;D

Fortunately in Australia it was Vera Lynn singing "You'll never Know". Much better, I have some of her CDS
Apparently in those days songs hung around for months

To post here from Youtube do you embed as in Blogger or post the link? Neither seems to work.

It doesn't work because you used html, which the forum software can't read.
Simply copy the web-browser address, then put it between the youtube brackets.
Looks like this (I added extra spaces so it's visible):

I fixed it for you in your post.
