Yup, just finished reading that screenplay yesterday morning...

Oh, i like this song "Kaw-Liga" very much  :). So, that's where the line for Ennis' "I'm nothing, i'm nowhere" comes from! (Guess also from short story's "pair of deuces going nowhere".) And also Jack's line to Ennis about tying knots all day! How nice :)

All these songs would have been matching the actual time period, but the final songs of the movie do have a more "modern" feel to them, so they would match the time period of watching the movie. Hmm...

When Alma asks Ennis to smarten up and go out, instead of "Kojak", the TV is playing David Carradine in "Kung Fu"

#8 Patsy Cline's "Crazy"

This is playing on Jack's radio while he's happily driving up to see Ennis, post-divorce.

~~~
Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wondering what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.
#9 Merle Haggard's "My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers"
Jack cries to this as he leaves Ennis and heads to Mexico.
~~~

Oh, the love you promised would be mine forever
I would have bet my bottom dollar on

Well, it sure turned out to be a short forever
Just once I turned my back and you were gone
From now on all my friends are gonna be strangers
I'm all through ever trusting anyone

The only thing I can count on now is my fingers
I was a fool believing in you and now you are gone
It amazes me, not knowing any better

Than to think I had a love who would be true
Why, I should be taken out, tarred and feathered
To have let myself be taken in by you

From now on all my friends are gonna be strangers
I'm all through ever trusting anyone

The only thing I can count on now is my fingers
I was a fool believing in you and now you are gone

In a "mountain montage", Jack and Ennis ride through the mountains, "like Randolph Scott and Joel McRea in 'Ride the High Country' (1962) ".

#10 Eagles' "Already Gone"

In the Wolf Ears Bar, just before Ennis meets Cassie, this is playing on the jukebox.

~~~
Well, I heard some people talkin' just the other day
And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf
But let me tell you I got some news for you
And you'll soon find out it's true
And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself
'Cause I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo
The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why
But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the light (that's right)
And I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo
Well I know it wasn't you who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key
But me, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
Already gone
All right, nighty-night
#11 Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love"
Of course, Cassie's song.  Rather than "It's So Easy".
~~~

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your head? yeah
Hey (hey) What's the matter with your mind and your sign?
And-a ooh-ohh
Hey (hey) Nothin's a matter with your head, baby, find it
Come on and find it
Hell, with it, baby, 'cause you're fine and you're mine
And you look so divine

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main line, alright
I said-a find it, find it, darling, love it
If you like it, yeah-eh
Hey (hey) It's your business if you want some
Take some, get it together, baby

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main vine, alright

La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
