POLLOCK #5 sells for a record $140,000,000,

perhaps the most ever paid for a single painting.  I looked it up on the web this evening to see what Pollock #5 looks like.

Personally, it's not my style.  Way too DENSE for my taste.  I guess many ppl see beauty in it if it can get over one hundred million dollars.  However, it led me to think what sort of painting would I buy if I had to spend USD 140,000,000 on a painting.  I know there are a million paintings, hundreds of different art schools, etc, but I have always been partial to Impressionism.  Don't know exactly why that is.  The image isn't clearly defined enough so it stiill leaves room to the imagination without being so abstract that someone has to tell you what it is. I like the brushstrokes and the colors common in these painting.  I prefer rural settings to urban settings. The Hudson River Valley paintings are also a favorite of mine.

Of course I love Ansel Adams b/w photographs of the rugged west of the United States.  I know, not paintings per say, unless your one of those who consider photographs "paintings with light."

Anyone else have a painting in mind if they had USD 140,000,000 to spend on purchasing one.  Something from the Renaissance, Dutch masters, cubism, abstract, post modern,   Curious to see if Brokies lean a certain direction.  ??? Sparse paintings as this was a sparse film??? Just a thought

I'm watching the film POLLOCK right now to learn more about the man who painted by "dripping" so to speak.

I'm not a big fan of modern art.  IMO, art is something that I can't do.  Dripping paint on a canvas is something a 3 year old or chimpanzee could do.
