Great photo, Chrissi, thanks for sharing it.  :)

Well, I had told my 3 year old that if she was awake, we could go see the fireworks at midnight, and strongly suggested a nap.  There was no nap, and by 8pm she actually WANTED to go to bed.  While we were getting her ready, she was marvelling, "We really stayed up sooo late.  It's late and we're still awake."  It was really only about 45 minutes past usual bedtime.  LOL

I put her into my bed so that I could help her cope with the fireworks sounds (we have a teenage boy four houses away who usually lets loose quite an arsenal).  We laid down, and I was gone for the night.  Snore.

Happy new year, everyone!  I feel quietly optimistic. :)

Leslie: And we did see Dinner for One again. Same procedure as every year..... ;)

Ha ha, glad to hear it!

We had raclette (also Swiss, like fondue)...melted cheese with bread, potatoes, cornichons and onions. I crashed early, like I always do. The teenage girls (3 of them) were whooping it up until 5 am when Tony finally made them brush their teeth and go to bed. So now we probably won't see them til 3 pm this afternoon! Makes for a nice quiet day for me, which suits me just fine.

I thinks it's great when Brokies celebrate the new year (not only new year, I love to hear of all Brokie-meetings) with fellow Brokies, people they had not known a year ago. This is really something, isn't it?

It really is something! And that pretty well nails the most important aspect of this whole phenomenon for me: All the wonderful new friends I've made since this time last year--thanks to Ennis and Jack!

A happy, healthy, and prosperous 2007 to all Brokies and all good friends everywhere!

Last year was a Humphrey Bogart movie marathon - The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, topped off with Casablanca.  This year...hmmm...maybe Jake and Heath?

A lineup like...
Ten Things
Donnie Darko
A Knight's Tale
Brokeback Mountain...

My movies-alone-plan morphed into seeing Babel with my friend Randy, who was in town visiting his folks - altogether a better idea!

First I chatted with latjoreme--for about two hours! Then, I went to the observatory (tho it was mostly overcast). I finished up by watching fireworks downtown with Ennis. I was just about to try to get a pic of him, lo angle, with some fireworks in the background, when my camera batteries gave out!! No matter, there were no surly bikers around anyway.

Here's the observatory:

The scene just before the foreworks began. The clocktower in downtown Denver is a replica of the famous one at St. Mark's square in Venice:
