Isn't it at New Year's that some of you folks watch that movie? What's it called? Dinner for One?

Yes, it's Dinner for One. It's mandatory in Germany ;). Of course I watched it last night, how could I not?
And I learned Sweden has the same tradition!

On his blog he talked about the process of shooting the video.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look.

Last night our Turner Classic Movies channel showed a marathon of the Thin Man movies from the 1930s. Great series of films starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as crime-sleuthing husband and wife Nick and Nora Charles--solving murders on the one hand while cracking wise and drinking cocktails on the other.  ;D  I watched just the first film in the series, The Thin Man, and then I went out and got drunk as usual.  ;D

Tonight I have a dilemma. Our Public Broadcasting Station is showing the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's concert--as it always does--but this year it overlaps TCM's showing of the great Western The Magnificent Seven.  :(  ???

On New Year's Eve, I celebrated during the day. On New Year's Day, I celebrated in the evening. Hiking buddy and I got together to eat holiday leftovers (shepherd's pie, cranberry relish, pumpkin pie, beans) and watch the episode of Sherlock that we've been waiting two years to see. He brought his guitar and we sang The Galaxy Song by Eric Idle. We also watched Stephen Hawking singing The Galaxy Song.

I probably should have watched that Sherlock just because it was a period piece, but instead I allowed myself to get wrapped up in what amounted to a marathon of watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind followed immediately by The Magnificent Seven.

I had a good time at the NYE party, but left on the earlier side.  With an hour-ride home, and police everywhere, I didn't want to be too late.

I saw three people get pulled over on my way home, thankfully I got back to the apartment without incident.

I've long had this belief that as I liveth my New Year's Eve, so goeth my coming year, or maybe more like "Begin as you mean to go on."

I hope not. Went to bed early and slept through New Year.
