Silly G**gle AdWords!
« on: April 07, 2006, 05:44:00 am »
I've been trying to set up AdWords on G**gle to pop up with an ad for my T-shirts, etc.when people search on certain words.

I wanted my ad to say

"You bet!"
"A force of nature" and more
on T-shirts, mugs ..

And almost immediately Google said it wouldn't do becuase
1. There mustn't be a exclamation point in the first line and
2. The word "bet" suggested i was advertising - gasp! - gambling.

So of course I wrote to them asking for an exception saying
1. The exclamation point was an integral part of the expression and
2. It had nothing to do with gambling, and in fact I was selling products with "You bet!" printed on them.
Well today they've told me that they've carefully considered my explaination and

it's still disallowed. Drive you mad?

You may find this a useful way of valuing our favourite  people:

Google has set these minimum costs per click to activate the words in question. In other words, I will pay Google that much every time someone searching on that word or phrase clicks through to my site. (In fact, i won't pay more than $0.15)
