I post my stories in both places; I know MadLori (Human Interest and Two Crows Joy) does too. I only started posting at LiveJournal because I received lots of complaints about spyware and such at Fanfiction.net.
You might consider sending a PM to the author to see if s/he would be willing to share a Word document or pdf of the story with you. We have lots of authors here at Bettermost. If there is someone in particular you are thinking of and don't know how to contact, send me a PM and I'll see if I can help you out.
