Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.

Wow! That says a lot right there!

I somehow never think of Pink Floyd songs as being "songs" with "lyrics" - they are each just whole microcosms unto themselves.  It's weird to see them written down, separate from the whole experience.  Ya know?

I don't know if this has been suggested, But Eva Cassidy has some beautiful stuff that makes me think of the boys sometimes.

Fields of Gold, Autum Leaves,I know you by heart, Songbird.
I'll try and postthe lyrics if you want.

Also, "Past the Point of Rescue" by Hal Ketcham.

Oh I love Eva Cassidy, her voice is that of an angel, just like Alison Krauss... Eva Cassidy died a few years ago, didn't she? She sings Songbird so beautifully, it makes me cry every time, because it reminds me of our boys so much...  :'(

Talking of Alison Krauss, this is my favorite Reminds-me-of-BBM song by her:

Stay - Alison Krauss

Where have you been,
My long lost friend?
It's good to see you again.
Come and sit for a while
I've missed your smile
Today the past is goodbye.
Time can't erase
A lover's embrace.
Can't you hear it calling?
A new day dawning
You were longing to find.

Love's taken you far
Away from my heart,
And I've been here all alone.
Have your eyes failed to find
What took you from mine,
A vision that's faded through time?
But you sailed away,
A fine summer's day,
Cause you heard it calling,
A new day dawning,
You were longing to find.

There is a way to make you stay.
Darlin don't turn away
Don't doubt your heart
and keep us apart
I'm right where you are
Stay

There is a way to make you stay.
Darling don't turn away.
Don't doubt your heart
and keep us apart
I'm right where you are
Stay.

Yes, Eva passed away on 11/2/96 after a valiant fight with cancer. Her voice is like no other.
I love Allison Krauss as well. I love  "I've got that old feelin" and "the lucky one" most of all.
I'm so glad there is a fellow Eva fan here.
I guess any heartfelt love song can bring to mind our boys!

:D Well, I ended up downloading "I know you by heart" last night when I read your suggestion and it is just so beautiful....

Do you also like Gordon Lightfoot? I saw him in concert last week, in Sparta, New Jersey!

He wrote and sung the most beautiful song in the world (in my opinion...), Shadows:

Shadows, ©1982 by Gordon Lightfoot

Let me reach out love and touch you
Let me hold you for awhile
I've been all around the world
Oh how I long to see you smile
There's a shadow on the moon
And the waters here below
Do not shine the way they should
And I love you just in case you didn't know

Let it go, let it happen like it happened once before
It's a wicked wind
And it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

Won't you lie down by me baby
Run your fingers through my hands
I've been all around the town
And still I do not understand
Is it me or is it you
Or the shadow of a dream
Is it wrong to be in love
Could it be the finest love I've ever seen

Set it free, let it happen like it happened once before
It's a wicked wind
And it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

Please kiss me gently darling
Where the river runs away
From the mountains in the springtime
On a blue and windy day
When there's beauty all around
As the shades of night grow deep
As the morning stars grow dim
They will find us in the shadows fast asleep

Let it go, let it happen like it happened once before
It's a wicked wind
And it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

I cry EVERY time I listen to this song, it makes me so nostalgic, because my parents used to play this song when I was very little and now it also reminds me of Jack and Ennis so much.... :'(

You know "Beautiful"? I made a request for that a couple a months ago (pay attention there Eric!! - that's two of us making the same request) Have you heard his version of "Me & Bobby McGee"? He released that song some six months before Janis Joplin had a hit with it. It a very lovely version of Kris Kristofferson's song.

Know what I'd like ta hear more of? Gordon Lightfoot - Know you played "If you could read my mind" in yer special at the beginnin a the month, but there's so much more that can be included in yer list: his version a "Me & Bobby McGee" preceeded Janis Joplin's version by about 8 months, I love album cuts like "Nous vivons ensemble (We've got to stay together)" and minor hits (well n Canada it wasn't minor) like "Beautiful" and "Rainy Day People"

Man! can that boy entertain.

Please consider includin at least one more tune: either "Me & Bobby McGee" or "Beautiful".

Appreciate it!
