Hey Eric,

Here's one for ya....  The whole CD/soundtrack from Mark Twain, A Film by Ken Burns
is worth consideration.  There are mostly instrumentals pieces on it, but the music is very American, country, gentle, raucous, some traditional, guitar, piano, fiddles, harmonica, and to me, many would fit the mood and content of BBM Radio.  I got my copy on Amazon, but if you have a CD player or somethin' to listen to it on, I could bring it with me to Alberta.  Maybe you've heard it already since you listen to a lot of stuff like I do.

I'm also glad to hear Joe Euro on BBM Radio.  He lives not far from my folks in Washington.

Cuts off the album I suggest are Howl, Wagoners' Lad, The Falls, Ties That Bind, Hard Times (either version) and a banjo/guitar cut of Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

OMG!!!!

I just found this song by Alison Krauss on Limewire! It's so beautiful, sung like a lullaby, and so right for our boys...

Alison Krauss - Scarlet tide

Well I recall his parting words
Must I accept his fate
Or take myself far from this place
I thought I heard a black bell toll
A little bird did sing
Man has no choice
When he wants every thing

We'll rise above the scarlet tide
That trickles down through the mountain
And separates the widow from the bride

Man goes beyond his own decision
Gets caught up in the mechanism
Of swindlers who act like kings
And brokers who break everything
The dark of night was swiftly fading
Close to the dawn of day
Why would I want him just to lose him again

We'll rise above the scarlet tide
That trickles down through the mountain
And separates the widow from the bride

Why would I want him just to lose him again.... :'( :'( :'(

Here's another one:

The End of The World by Skeeter Davis

I actually just heard this song by John Mellencamp and he does a good job with it, but this is Skeeter's song always.

Eric,  Hi again,

Amy Lou Harris does a great rendition of "Wayfaring Stranger" that would be good too and have you heard  Slider by Bruce Kaphan?  It is fantastic... very innovative, cool music,  western steel petal guitar, synthesizer and sometimes fused with traditional Indian instruments.   It's a fav of mine.  You ever hear it?

There's also several versions of "Feels Like Home" out there.  I think most of them are better than Linda Ronstadt's.  I seem to be losing my taste for Linda's voice as I age.

Eva Cassidy is not on iTunes so you're all gonna have to email me her songs as mp3 files so I can put her on the station.  :)

Here's a song from The Traveling Wilburys that reminds me very much of Ennis. It was written by George Harrison.

Handle With Care

Been beat up and battered 'round
Been sent up, and I've been shot down
You're the best thing that I've ever found
Handle me with care

Reputations changeable
Situations tolerable
Baby, you're adorable
Handle me with care

(Chorus)
I'm so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Won't you show me that you really care

(Bridge)
Everybody's got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine, and dream on

I've been fobbed off, and I've been fooled
I've been robbed and ridiculed
In day care centers and night schools
Handle me with care

Been stuck in airports, terrorized
Sent to meetings, hypnotized
Overexposed, commercialized
Hand me with care

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

I've been uptight and made a mess
But I'll clean it up myself, I guess
Oh, the sweet smell of success
Handle me with care

Another reason this song reminds me so much of Ennis: it's the way George Harrison sings "Bean beat up and battered 'round"  8)
