Since it's about -40 Celsius here, decided to stay home instead of meeting my friend Cecil for dinner at Le Saloon (a great restaurant in the gay village).

Ok, Ok, here goes :

''Heath and I made love,'' Gyllenhaal says, with an impish grin, ''and they got a baby out of it.''
Well, what do you think?

Affectionately,

Pierre -  ;)

Hmm.. I'll have to think on it for a day or so and get back to ya ..  ;D

Ok..ok..I thought it was cute when Jake said that. ;)
What I'd like to know:  did they make love while filming the movie and then Michelle got pregnant or was it afterwards?   ???

Could someone please refresh my memory?  Is this from the Oprah show devoted to BBM?

Compared to Heath, Jake is a great interviewee -- so relaxed, and clever, too.

Are you talking about Heath and Michelle Milli??

I run into the saying "making love" sometimes in the turn-of-the-century book I'm reading about Wyoming called The Virginian. It means to court, flirt, or even try to seduce. It does not necessarily have the meaning that we in these unchivalrous times ascribe to it. I like to think that was the meaning that gallant Jake meant to convey.

In answer to the original question, I took it to mean:  Heath and Jake "made love" in the movie as Ennis and Jack, but Heath and Michelle, lovers in real life, got the baby.  I think it was just Jake being clever.  :)

I've heard him say it twice - Oprah and somewhere else.  And didn't Heath then say it sort of more recently?

Do I think he meant it that the actual real people Heath and Jake made love, no.

Yeah, I think Jake said that on the Oprah show......and he probably used the term "make love" rather than "screwed" or "f***ed", because it was on TV....and it was just a cever remark that was made by not only him, but others on the set of the movie.

Now I'm gonna ask a question, which I hope doesnt upset the Heathens on here, but I have often thought, (wondered), whether Heath latched on to Michelle, and obviously did a lot of lovin' with her during the movie, in order to confirm his own herosexuality to the public and to himself....knowing that there would be publicity about his union with Michelle and so maybe take out any thoughts, if anyone had them, that he was gay.

Anyone else ever think that there was this ulterior motive to their union?

And just as a postscript, from what I have seen of Heath and Michelle they seem to be very happy and secure, so I'm not insinuating that their union was merely just a publicity stunt.

This is ridiculously OT, but everytime I see Entertainment Weekly's URL, I think for a split second that it means, "eeewwwww."

Note: Filming ended in August-September 2004. The baby was not born until October 2005. So, uh...

So Michelle ended up pregnant for the extra months that were missing from Lureen's pregnancy with Bobby? ;)
Watch out. That poster has a low startle point.

  OK, that explains everything!

Now if we'd only discover that Heath dated Michelle for most of the five years that Ennis was supposedly dating Cassie. Or is Naomi Watts Cassie? This is getting too confusing.

As a resident Heathan here, I’m not upset by this as I’ve seen this kind of speculation before.  But from what I learned about Heath in the past year, he is not the kind to worry about his public image, otherwise he would not have had so many fights with the media, and most important is he would not have taken up the role in the first place; so my take on this is ‘no’.

In a word, yes.  I think that's a possibility.  That has been alluded to before, and IMO it makes a lot of sense, it could be true, or not.  Especially if Heath was farsighted enough to foresee what was coming around the bend and did happen to our poor Jake.  If that kind of personal speculation was swirling around Heath these past 15 months, can you just imagine what a basket case Heath would be by now?  I don't think he could have stood it.

We will probably never know if that was the reason Heath initially hooked up with Michelle.  For now they certainly appear to be in love, but really what do any of us really know about the private lives of our favourite stars?

edited for clarification.
