He cringed inwardly every time Alma said the words, which seemed to be at the drop of a hat to everyone she came across. Apparently, she was a
fiancée and she told him that he was one, too, only with one less "e" whatever the hell that meant. He sure didn't have use for such damn fancy sounding nonsense.
And then the way she kept "practicing" her soon-to-be name on any scrap of paper within reach. "Alma del Mar," "Mrs. Alma del Mar," and even, "Mrs. Ennis del Mar."
"Don't look right," he kept thinking. "Don't look right at all."
