Toys and tools for Valentine's Day
« on: February 10, 2007, 01:10:21 pm »
I'm not good at starting new topics...I'd much rather riff off of others'. But this is my 92nd new topic, and I want to hit 100 by Valentine's Day! So, here goes...

I was engaged in spring cleaning one time, me and the other half were doing some nasty vacuuming. I asked him to hand me the crevice tool...and he started unbuttoning his jeans!! That cracked me up!! (hehe two in one!)

So, does anyone have any recommendations for Valentine's Day gifts of the toy and tool variety? Believe me, I've surfed all over...am I just too picky??

See, now that's why I don't start too many topics...I always end up talking to myself!!

On Valentine's Day, it looks like I'll end up taking myself out on a date...hope I don't end up taking advantage of myself.

toy and tool variety?

 ::) :)

I want a serious Swiss army knife w/every handy little tool known - I think they come in more colors than red, now...but this is probably not on-topic, is it?

Hilarious!  (No wonder he wants you home all the time... heehee.)

So you're looking for sets of tools to give him?  Many of the good sets (Sears Craftsman, etc.) come in big red tool boxes, so there's that.

Or after a hard day's work, a nice soak in the tub with rose petals & champagne (cliche' I know, but personally I enjoy experiences together at least as much as gifts...)  Or give each other massages w/ rose-scented oil or something?

(By "Toys and tools for V-day" I thought this thread was about, like, love toys or something! Maybe you can find one he can strap on his chin . . .  :) )

Actually I served all of those last Saturday, including fennel stalks, little french pickles, olives, cucumbers, jicama, and zuccini. They may work in some cases but in my case, I'm goin shopping for oysters tomorrow!

That's an excellent idea, Artiste. I will never forget the little solo RodneyWY played on his harmonica at the very end of the movie showing last Saturday. THe strains of "Maker Makes" were dying down, and then we heard the sweet sounds of Rodney's mouth organ...he had four of them lined up on his leg to play when the mood struck. It was awesome.

I sent Alex a Vermont Teddy Bear for Valentines Day. This is a picture of the bear I sent him. This is the "Love Bandit" bear and he comes with his own mask and a bag of heart shaped candy. He has light brown (honey) colored fur. I had to have him sent to me since the company doesn't deliver the bears outside the US. I mailed him 5 days ago and I'm hoping he will arrive in England on time tomorrow.

and be happy to get pics of that if ever you see that again and/or get one to play yourself and/or your buddy/partner will... and friends!!

Sweet, David! I sure hope it gets there in time! That was so funny, Jess! The things we do for love! I know if my sweetie laid in my place on the bed to warm it up for me while I was surfing the net, I would say he was the greatest too!!

Me, I sent my friends a postcard from Wyoming with a herd of wild stallions on it. I ID'd all the stallions with their names, mostly Jack of hearts, Jack of spades, etc. We'll see if it done the job tomorrow. Oh, I also liberally scattered chocolate all over where my loved ones could find it.

Sexiest Screen Kisses - We celebrate 10 of cinema's hottest smooches / By Kathleen Murphy - Special to MSN Movies

In "Bull Durham," while sizing up a potential bedmate, Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon), sexy baseball groupie and muse, asks veteran catcher Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) what he believes in. This baseball stud's been around the diamond a few times, so he drawls out a provocative list that includes everything from "the hangin' curveball" to good Scotch to soft-core pornography. But it's his last entry that hits a home run: "I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." Crash's notion of slow-burn kissing requires time and expertise. In the lexicon of his libido, locking lips means a delicious slide into sensual meltdown -- not just a brief hiatus in the mechanics of hooking up. When nightclub hottie Barbara Stanwyck takes her own good time savoring Gary Cooper's lips in "Ball of Fire" -- "I'm gonna show you what yum-yum is" -- she sends the novice's temperature skyrocketing so high, cold water must be applied. And who can argue with Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) when he growls at Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) with virile menace in "Gone with the Wind": "You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how." And then there's tough-guy Humphrey Bogart's romantic tribute to the woman he's loved and lost in "In a Lonely Place": "I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me." But that was then -- and this is now. Despite the lure of Angelina Jolie's impossibly plush mouth, Julia Roberts' wide-as-all-outdoors grin and Reese Witherspoon's perky lips, not to mention the boyish charms of Brad and Leo and Colin and Jake and Heath, does it sometimes seem to you that there's an insufficiency of genuinely sexy smooching in the movies? For your Valentine's Day pleasure, we've compiled 10 silver-screen kisses that hit us where we live. Enjoy -- and don't forget to share your own favorite sizzlers.

10.    'The More the Merrier' (1943)
09.    'Notorious' (1946)
08.    'Vertigo' (1958)
07.    'To Have and Have Not' (1944)
06.    'Brokeback Mountain' (2005)
Cowboying up on "Brokeback Mountain," sheepherders Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) fall into unlikely love. Boys without fathers or friends, these two loners create a sustaining community of two in the high country. Trouble is, they must come down from paradise -- and like the lovers in "Wuthering Heights," their passion makes them unfit for any but each other, unsuitable as husbands and fathers. Now, four years have passed, with intervening marriages and children, yet at first sight, the two men come together as though magnetized, in a face-smashing kiss so powerful, it's like two halves of one soul, one body violently re-uniting. That kiss speaks volumes, the words these mostly inarticulate men could never say -- and Ennis' wife, looking down at that hot embrace, turns away, her face turned gaunt by a loss this green girl doesn't yet understand.

I agree Jude. One of the best descriptions of 'the kiss' I've read. 'two halves of one soul', that's exactly it.
