Which would you like to see being turned into a movie?

I'd choose The Laramie Saga. Why? It has a lot of elements that would make it a great movie: humor, tears, mystery, action, CSI, romance and lots of mansex!

It is a good depiction of the 1980's in America, IMO.

If Jack hadn't died in BBM I would've chosen A Love Born From Steel too but he does die and making him coming back from the dead won't work.

Now just a minute. If it,s good enough for Bobby Ewing why not our Jack? eh?

Seriously though lol, I,d pick LS for sure. I caught the last 10 minutes of BBM the other night on sky, just as Ennis found the shirts. I think it would help an awful lot of people who were so affected by BBM in so many ways to have LS filmed. Ennis is only a young man. I,ts terrible to think of him drinking himself to death in that crappy old trailer. Obviously it all depends on wether or not Heath would ever want to play Ennis again. And of course, someone would have to convince Hugh Jackman to play Ellery. I dont know if I could watch it if they cast anyone else tbh.

whoa! Well maybe that is the reason I am going to Australia, to talk Hugh into developing a screenplay! We would have to edge back over the Restricted line though, I think....

I am so glad that you started this thread today Melissa.

I hate to admit this but even though I have been here for a little whille I have just discovered in the last two days that this whole world exists that I didn't really know about before.

Now with this thread I know where to begin

I would of course appreciate any more suggestions and where to find them.

Welcome to the world of fanfiction. You are in for a treat...

There's a whole universe of stories out there, each with their own appeal for different readers. As with anything, you can ask 10 people what's their favorite and you are likely to get 10 different answers! So be prepared to be bombarded....

I would suggest taking some time to explore this board. We have different threads for different stories, which include links. Most stories are posted in either LiveJournal or fanfiction.net--ie, the stories aren't here, just links to the stories. I can help you find something in particular. Just send me a PM.

Hey! Oh wow, I wish I was in your shoes! You are like a kid in a candy store, there are so many wonderful stories to start with. Take Leslie's A Love Born from Steel (one of the first stories I read along with For A Little While) and Human Interest by Madlori. It's probably a good thing to start with a finished story! Then I would recommend reading If I Asked by Amy (midwest_girl), it's one of my favorites and beautifully written! But of course, these are just my recommendations, like Leslie said, everybody will give different recs!

God, what a great question!

there are so many that I love... I have to go with Mel though, It isn't my favorite fic necessarily, but I think Shades of Grey would make the best movie.

I think it's the most cinematic and has one of the most clear cut story arcs and character development with more in mind than just getting Jack and Ennis together. Also, I think she has some really well written OCs with Madrigal and Colin (and Heinstroza especially) and I would love to speculate on who to cast... (we all know Christian Bale is who's his face

)

Though, I would love to see Nobody's Angel made into a movie, too...

And if the Pirate fic ever got finished

And probably anything by Bailey could be transported into a movie... Line Squall? Just Another New Kid in Town? Boot Hill? All of those would be great...

"Ennis", written by our fellow member Tom Forster. It is beautiful, life-affirming, and develops Ennis's character in a way consistent with how the film and Proulx's original story presented him. The author shows a good understanding of working life in the rural West, and creates a character in Billy who is as lovable and memorable as Ennis and Jack.

   a made for TV mini series from Laramie Saga...there is too much to

   to tell in just a movie....

   My second choice would be Lead Me To Your Door.... and make it

   a full blown X rated version. Don't skip the sex for PC value..

I will go with A Love Born from Steel. Its fanfiction right, so i like the fact that Jack lives and he and Ennis continue their love and life together. I like seeing Ennis and Jack living happy together. They warm my heart.

Ya'll are kidding, right?

There is only one story out there that just screams movie. The author's cinematic style, the multi-layered texture of the prose, the whip like pacing, the intricate and intelligent plot, the smart dialogue that already reads like a screenplay, characters that are three dimensional, complex and complicated - so real they practically jump off the page at you - a setting that is urban and rife with depth and possiblities, only one that has received comment after comment after comment that how much like a movie it feels, one of the best fics in the entire fandom and nobody has mentioned it yet?

Unbelievable.

Oh I dont know. They could make it 4 hours long like Gone with the Wind lol. And yes, lead me to your door. Especially chapter 8.

Well, others have cheated so I will too:

Roots (271 Horses); Lead Me to Your Door (marakeshsparrow); Mason-Dixon (B73).

It's great o see such a variety of answers, instead of we all like exactly the same thing.

Coincidentally, those are my three favorte fanfics; there are of course fanfics that just wouldn't be movies (Jack dying all by himself (Slow Fade) or Ennis watching TV by himself (Daydream Believer)--but for the most part, as long as there's some action and interaction, I would always pick my favorites.

Canon: would be "Ennis" listed above (dead/Jack and Ennis tries to move on and deal with his loss, I found it to be very true to the rural experience and it stays close to canon Ennis in character).

AU: would be many: Shades of Grey, A Love born from Steel, HI (or TCJ went done), BFF or ALSE (when completed). I can so picture Tainted Evidence as a movie when it is done. I think that Zero to the Bone would be a good movie when completed, too. I guess that I can't pick one, I love so many fics and I feel blessed to have shared so many stories with so many BBM fans and the talented authors we have among us.

I've read a few that would probably make pretty good night time soaps ala Dallas and Dynasty, but the only ones I've read all the way through that I think would play well on the big screen would be "Shades of Grey" and "Zero at the Bone". Both are very cinematic in structure. "Brokeback Redemption" runs a close third, but it's not complete yet. "Tainted Evidence" might make a good extended music video on VHI. "Wolf and Thunderbird" is the one I'd love to see made into a film. It has real heart, but somebody like Gus Van Zandt would have to direct it and it would never be mainstream. Then again... that's what some people said about "Brokeback Mountain" so who knows?

The scandalous affair is definitely a good idea. It'll sell the movie so make sure it's full of steamy, dirty and sleazy detalis!
