The lupins have never grown so much so fast. Usually when the top part's in blossom, the bottom's gone to seed - not this time - not in the heat we'd been experiencin (until today)

Second siberian iris - so pure & white, with a beautiful yellow accent - first of many, recently moved to the newest flowerbed

Why thank you Janice. As far as those poppies are concerned, don't know what variety of poppies produce heroine, but I'm quite aware that heroine is made from some kinda poppy. These are referred to as ornamental poppies. Got two colours of em - the second one just opened up this afternoon. Also, a third colour that we bought at a respectable plant place did not survive the first winter.

Got yet another variety of poppies that self seed and grow back ev'ry year (they're much smaller, and haven't blossomed yet this year)

In Flanders Fields by the Canadian army physician John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
      In Flanders fields.

A 3rd (of 7 plants) peonie opened recently - similar to the first pink, but darker - camara doesn't pick up the shade the eye can see
