"Forever Blue" poem. One reviewer said he didn't understand it, and I finally figured out why: the first line is personal to Me: it is MY father I have broken faith with (he and the rest of his family down to his great grandchildren are pacifists).
Homecoming
I have broke faith with my father,
And love a lad home from the war
Who does not regret it, or even think of it
Much.
So honest he is, and so unafraid,
Even of fear itself ,
Full of half-formed plans, yet so sure
Of his love, that he dies for it,
Without ever knowing
Why.
