Yes, "Open Your Heart" by Madonna is really good and fitting! Any chance you might be able to post a link here to listen to it :)? Thanks  ;)

This is one of my favorites...so many BBM references (to Brokies, anyway)
best heard..here is the website where you can hear it and other Annie Lennox songs..just click on music and find "WHY"

ummmmmmmm....

WHY
Annie Lennox

How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey... this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me...
Why
Why

I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard is said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides...
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
(this boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me...
Why
Tell me...
Why

This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears...
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel ?
'cause i don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
You don't know what I feel

I love that song, Gay Lee.  And it's so fitting.

Posting a reply to Jeff in one of my threads just now made me dredge up a line from this song, then I realized I've never posted the whole thing here before:

Every Time You Go Away ~ Paul Young

If we can solve any problem
Then why do we lose so many tears?
Oh, and so you go again
When the leading man appears
Always the same thing
Can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

Go on and go free, yeah
Maybe you're too close to see
I can feel your body move
It doesn't mean that much to me
I can't go on sayin' the same thing
But can't you see, we've got everything
Do you even know we know?

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you, oh
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

I can't go on sayin' the same thing
'Cause baby, can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
No more beans!

.....
I drove all night-Cindy Lauper
...

I was thinking of "I drove all night", originally by Roy Orbison I think.  It really conveys the feeling of doing almost crazy things just to spend time with your love, that feeling that must have been all through Jack sustaining him effortlessly on his long, long drives from Childress to get to Ennis.

This one I'm posting for everyone suffering/enoying ultra hot weather at the mo!

Heatwave by Martha & The Vandellas

Whenever I'm with you
Something inside starts burning
and my heart's filled with fire

Stop this - it's got a hold on me
I said this ain't the way it's supposed to be

It's like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can't keep from crying
Tearing me apart

Whenever he calls my name
Sounds so soft sweet and plain
Right then, right there
I feel this burning pain
This high blood pressure's got a hold on me
I said this ain't the way love's supposed to be

It's like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can't keep from crying
Tearing me apart

Whenever I'm with you
Something inside starts burning
And my hearts filled with fire

Something's got me amazed
Don't know what to do
My head's in a haze

It's like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can't keep from crying
Tearing me apart
Old Brokeback got us good and it sure ain't over

Ah, I've been listening to my old Bread albums today (all you Brokie's of a certain age will remember Bread... ;)), and practically every song was making me think about Ennis. For example...

'Everything I Own' by Bread.

You sheltered me from harm.
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free
The finest years I ever knew
Were all the years I had with you

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own,
Just to have you back again.

You taught me how to love,
What its of, what its of.
You never said too much,
But still you showed the way,
And I knew from watching you.
Nobody else could ever know
The part of me that cant let go.

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again.

Is there someone you know,
Youre loving them so,
But taking them all for granted.
You may lose them one day,
Someone takes them away,
And they dont hear the words you long to say

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again.

'Sweet Surrender' by Bread.

Baby Im through runnin its true
Id be a fool to try to escape you
Maybe Im beat but oh what a sweet surrender

You keep your rights, Ill take your nights
No one can lose when we turn the lights out
Tastin defeat, lovin that sweet surrender

Im givin up myself to you but I didnt really lose at all
I gave the only love Ive known and it never hurt me to fall

Now that its done, so glad you won
I know our lives have only begun now
No more retreat, only my sweet surrender

'He's a Good Lad' by Bread.

Hes a good lad
A little bit shy so youll try and have to understand
Such a good lad
And just for a while the guyll need a helping hand
His word are hard to follow, but his heart has found a way
To show you the things that he never could say;

Hes a good lad
A little bit wild but his style is really gentle and kind
He aint so bad
Right to the end hes a friend, about the best you can find
And as you come to know him, and his needs are comin through
Youll flash on the day I was talkin to you.

And he needs somebody to love
Yes he needs somebody to be worthy of -
Hes a good lad

And if you come to want him, like I know he wants you to
Youll see all the things I was sayin are true

And he needs somebody to love
Yes he needs somebody to be worthy of -
Hes a good lad.

'This Year's Love' by David Gray.

This years love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
And I've been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can't go on

Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last

So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on
And won't you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
Will you stop playing with that radio of yours, I'm trying to get to sleep!

Hey Kelda, did I put this earlier. Cos if I didn't, I meant to cos I completely agree!!
I've learnt that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in!
