All right, Del, I finally listened to the "Pillow Book" soundtrack.

It's quite an amalgam of music.  Unfortunately there are no liner notes to offer any details.

It starts with a number that sounds like it could have been played in Shanhai in the 20s or 30s.  Then there's a lovely French song, very moody and new age.  The same singer later does a French rap song. Yes, rap, but slow and gentle.

There is some Japanese pop-rock stuff.  Then there's a few interesting Tibetan sacred pieces. 

I'll have to see the film again to see how the music is incorporated.

Thanks for the review.  It sounds like something I might like.  Will look into picking one up...
