Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

Well, we got through yesterday......Now to get through today.

I'm still getting used to not seeing Jackie's screen name on DCF, and not getting emails or phone calls from her.  Sometimes I go into old threads, and will come across one of her posts, and I get a rush at first, thinking it's a new post, and then I remember.  I had a short cry in my cubicle today, and I've recovered.

I'm posting a pic of me and Jackie, that I was fortunate enough to get on her last trip to NYC.  We had a lot of fun!  Under it is the poem I was asked to write for her memorial service in Oxford last June.

You were a woman of class, witty and smart
a soft spoken voice, a very big heart
arms always outstretched, for a hug or a touch
our darling Jackie, we love you so much
you shared with us your wisdom, you gave us support
we never realized, your time with us would be short
your presence was strong, you were with us each day
you were a major role, in our lives, in this play
And although we will miss you, you're not physically around
we take comfort in knowing that you're Heaven bound.
and when we feel tired of dealing with things
you'll be right beside us, to wrap us in your wings
you'll help us feel better, put a smile on our face
and gently remind us that now your everyplace
you'll give us comfort and help us to know
that you are the glint in the freshly fallen snow
you're the stars in the sky, on the ocean, a wave
when we feel lonely, you'll help us feel brave
you watched over us all, the time you were here
and though you crossed over, I know you still hold us dear
watching us with concern, showering us with your love
our darling Jackie, our guardian angel from above

Life is short.  Please take the time today to tell the people you love, that you love them.  Trust me, they'll appreciate it.  Whatever term you choose (lover, boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, partner, spouse) reach out to them today, and hug them, and think of Jackie.  It would make her smile.

Thanks to all my BetterMost and DCF friends who I've met (and will meet in the future).  You've touched me in ways that you will never know, and for that I'm grateful.

Matt, thanks for your funny PMs, you always give me a smile.

Jeff Wrangler, keep smiling!  Thanks for saying I was the life of the party.  You made my day.

The Brokies that attended the get togethers with me.......so many great times!

KillersMom!  You planned the first big BBQ, and you helped bring us together.  :-*

The Colorado planning crew!  I never thought I'd leave N.J.  I now think Colorado would be a great place to retire to.  So beautiful!

The Wyoming Road Trippers!  So many laughs!  Thanks so much for everything.

Love you all!

To my big brothers!  Robert, Paul, Truman, Richard.  As someone who always had the burden of being the "big brother" in my own family, you all have no idea how touched I was to be adopted by you guys.  I've learned a lot from you, and can't imagine my life without you guys being around.

Love you four so much!

That's a lovely poem, Chuck.   :'(

Thanks for sharing it.  I didn't know Jackie, but it seems like I've been getting to know her since her death through so many of you who loved her.

What a beautiful poem, Chuck!  We should all be so lucky to have a friend like you to remember us.  Thanks for organizing the dinner that gave me the opportunity to meet Jackie.  She was special indeed.  :-*

Oh Chucky......{{{{CHUCKY}}}}}

What can I say......you say it all with your beautiful words.
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection

Chuckie,

I'm thinking of Jackie today.
I'm thinking of you today.
And of all her friends.

I met Jackie only for a few days, at the Denver BBQ 2007. But she left a big impression in my heart. I felt drawn to her immediately. She radiated warmth and friendship. She really did. You could see it in her face, you could feel it in her hug and you could hear it in her words.

{{{Chuck}}}

Same here Chrissi!!! I didn't know anyone at all at that BBQ.......never met any of you.........was a long way from home in a place I had never been. You all made me comfortable. And yes I remember Jackie..........she welcomed me with open arms. She, along with many of you, is why I am in this place.
