Could be worse.
Today I rang up a womans bill which had 10 T- bones on it, which she duly paid for, I use that term very loosely, with food stamps.
I stood there thinking/seething,that I used to own this store and I am buying ground chuck !!!
Not only that she had the audacity to ask me ifI could possibly ring up the 18 pack of beer as groceries, as she could not get beer on food stamps. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too fuc-ing right, thought I while informing her politely that I could do no such thing. Some people, where is their conscience ? same place as their brains, missing presumed dead.

Still at least I do have a job although at the moment that is scant consollation.

Im not sure how the "food stamps" thing works over there. We dont have them.

What kind of situation do you have to be in to get them?

How many do you get?

Why do some get them and some dont?

Glad to see another American Idol fan on here.

We get it in Oz on our Wednsday night which is only a few hours after you get it live over there. I watch it every week. I like Simon Cowell, he is usually honest in what he says, even though it might be hurtful.

We also get an Australian Idol over here, shown at a different time of the year than the American version.

I'm not sure of all the details so I was hoping someone else would answer, but it basically has to do with income levels.

I believe they look at a person's income compared with their fixed necessary expenses (rent, etc.) and then some table determines whether or not they qualify for any food stamps, and if so, for how many.  The number of people in the household (children, etc.) is also a factor.

It's a way of helping people whose situation (low-income, laid off, etc.) means they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford food.

Well the ones I see fall into 3 very broad categories. The women with multiple kids to multiple fathers, the drug dealers with huge Cadillacs, obligatory spinners, and  fancy paint job.The latter come in with wads of cash to pay for beer and then get all the food on the stamps.I kid you not, $65,000 car and food stamps. This group areof course the sirloin, fillet, etc big red meat purchasers. !!!!

The last category are the addicts, alcohol and drugs. They either stink of beer at 8.00am or are so wired on crack they cant stay still long enough to slide their cards. The women with kids and addicts are normally in their night wear. The dealers are in very smart suits, with masses of bling, and diamond studded Rolexes, no I am not joking. They could sell their watches and feed themselves for a year.

The poor hardworking, but low paid honest folk do not seem to get anything,They are the ones usually counting out pennies for bread and the disgusting fake cheese stuff. It has all been a real eye opener. I tell you one good run to Miami, I would be set for life. I am joking of course.

It seems like crime and irresponsibility do pay. I would love to report half of them, but would be terrified of the repercussions, somewhere between maimed for life and the morgue !!!
