LOL

Chrissi, you should know!

Streuselkuchen (crumb cake) is a German specialty. Traditionally it is made of a yeast dough covered with a sweet crumb topping referred to as streusel. The main ingredients for the crumbs are sugar, fat and flour, which are mixed at a 1:1:2 ratio.

The recipe allegedly originated from Silesia, a province that is nowadays in Western Poland, but the cake is found everywhere today. Many variants are prepared, with fillings such as creme and fruits, or using a shortening-based dough.

I did some research. Streusel does not translate as 'crumb", the dictionaries will not give me an English word. Crrumb is krümel.  I looked at some pictures and we would call it apple (or whatever fruit) crumble.
Happy Birthday.

I must have had a senior moment there.
Later I thought it must be something similar to Streuselkuchen. And it's not only similar, but even the same. I love fresh Streuselkuchen. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
CHICK  .. (ooops) .. CHUCK
:)

Wish I could be with you for some crumby cake ... with Nutella and cream.
Or an ice cream cake! It's stinking hot, here. Temperatures as high as yours are low.
We should all go live in NZ. Nice weather; nice people (like Matthew and Brian).  ;D

Hello Bettermost Friends!

So, how is everyone here today?

Many thanks to everyone for all the birthday greetings, whether here, on DCF, on FB, text, cards, email.  They just kept coming!

Feeling tired today, and I'm glad tomrrow is Friday.  Ugh.  I need the sleep.   I'm thinking if it's warm this weekend, I may decorate the windows for Valentine's day, and just not turn them on until the end of January.  Just do the hanging part to get them out of the way.   I want it to be warm because the decorations are indoor/outdoor, so I unhinge the windows and the decorations between the window and the screen, so they are easily seen.

I must have had a senior moment there.

Actually Chrissi, this cake has 'regional' names for some reason, like how some people call Coca-cola "soda" and others "pop".

Some areas call this cake a "crumb cake", while others call it a "coffee cake", I'm assuming because it can be served as a snack with coffee, as it has no coffee flavoring in it.

I've always called it a crumb cake.

How about we finish today with a recent pic of Trenton Scott?   I'll be seeing him on Sunday, he'll be 12 days shy of being 2 months old.

;D
