Hiya Chuckie,
just catching up on your blog. How about getting me a seedling of that money-tree? ;) ;D
Have fun at game night! :-*

Busy weekend over here; my oldest turns 18 tomorrow and we're gonna have a big party tonight.
Can't believe my baby has grown up so fast....

How is everyone doing today?

My Aletria is done and in the fridge, setting.  ;D   Looks like it turned out just right!

Just finished some lunch, and now I'm catching up online.

Hiya Chuck!

That's a very funny name for a dish. What's in it?

If you like rice pudding, you'll like this Portuguese dessert, made with angel hair pasta.

Aletria

6 Cups of milk
2 cups granulated sugar
1 T. of butter
3 egg yolks
1 lemon rind
1 box of angel hair pasta
ground cinnamon

In a large saucepan put 5 cups of milk, sugar, butter and lemon rind.   In a small dish put one cup of milk and three egg yolks, and beat well.  Break the angel hair pasta into thirds, and place in a bowl.  Turn on heat (medium low) and start to stir, slowly bringing the milk mixture to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent burning.  Once the boil is reached, add the pasta and cook for 15 minutes, stirring constantly. After 15 minutes, remove from heat, continuing to stir, while slowing adding the milk & egg mixture.  Be sure to keep stirring, to prevent pieces of cooked egg from appearning.  After the milk/egg mixture is all in, return to the heat, and cook for three more minutes.

After that three minutes is up, turn off the oven, stir for one or two more minutes, and then place onto platter of your choice.   Smooth mixture out, and let cool on a countertop.   Once cool, use the ground cinnamon to put a design on the top, and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Sounds good!

I'm not sure what angel hair pasta is, but I'm guessing it's very thin pasta.

In fact, it sounds like a lokchen kugel!

Only difference is that a lokchen kugel is baked in the oven, but the ingredients are pretty much the same.

As long as the conversation has turned to food, this is my place to ask a question I have been unable to answer:  Years ago you could buy in the spice department of the supermarket a butter flavoured salt--for popcorn, baked potatoes, vegetables, and other such things.  It was a great no-cal way to enjoy these foods.  I tried looking for it recently, but can't find it.  Do they call it something else now?  I would like to hear from everyone, but especially from Canadians since I live and shop there.  Tnx.

Hello Bettermost Friends!

laundry day today!  The dinner party last night was a lot of fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy the Aletria.  Since they went for seconds, I assume they liked it.  LOL

;D

Hope you're all having a lazy Sunday

It does sound like Lokchen Kugel  ( I looked it up on Google) and yes, you are right.  Angel Hair pasta is thinner than regular spaghetti.
