I woke up to see NYC blanketed in snow this morning!  This may never happen again, that I get snow before Leslie or Lee get it.  ;D

Well, you got it before me! My son woke up to 2" of snow in Oneonta, NY this morning. Still nothing for us, so far, but it feels like snow is in the air.

This is not the first time I've mentioned something on BetterMost and later it turned into something bigger than I originally thought. BetterMost been very very good to me!!

Good job, Lee. Way to go, Lee's son!

Weather update: snow starting after midnight. Anywhere from 6 to 18 inches, and they are saying for those of us in the Portland-Westbrook area, plan on a foot.

We have food, we have heat, we have boots...we're all set.

It's not unheard of...but we have had plenty of Decembers with no snow on the ground on Christmas, too.

Right now we have about 3 inches of snow. All the schools are closed. They are saying the storm is intensifying over Long Island Sound and we are supposed to get round two--a serious storm--this afternoon. So! But I am cozy and warm here in my kitchen, with no plans to go anywhere! Maybe I'll bake some Christmas cookies. Hmmm....

Well,  our snow quickly changed into sleet and freezing rain.

The drive home last night was treacherous to say the least.       I hear rain hitting my window now as I type this.   At least I hope it is rain!    :-\

At least you made it safe and sound. Is this your day off, David?

Nope.  Yesterday was actually my Monday.   Today I go in for 12:30 for an 8 hour training day.

The interstate highway was salted really well.    So were the main roads.   But as soon as I turned onto a sidestreet near my neighborhood I hit unsalted road and spun across the street.  Thankgoodness nobody was coming the other way!    :P

UH OH!    :o

As I was sitting here typing, I heard and saw big chucks of ice falling past my window.    "What the F?"    I thought...

CRASH!

A huge limb from the tree in front of my house came crashing down and landed feet from my window.     ICE!

The freezing rain has glazed over everything!      So I grabbed my coat and saw and went out from to cut it up.

CRASH!    An entire tree came down behind my house!    On the property behind me thankgoodness.

I hate ice storms!

So I just came inside and turned on the news.    Sure enough, many schools are closed due to power failures.   25,000 people out and the number is climbing by the thousands per hour they report.

And the real kicker?   The weather man just issued a high winds advisory for the rest of the day and tonight.  Part of the storm heading up to Leslie.

High winds and ice on the trees.   A bad combination.    :P
