Here's the last one for the day: Meryl in Santa Fe, in front of a sign that was too good to miss. And note the bullriding image on the plates below. (We also watched some real bull-riding on TV while out West. That is one scary sport!  :o )

My partner and I were out west last week, too! We visited 6 National Parks in 8 days in Southern Utah/Northern Arizona... really incredible landscapes out there... here's a couple of our pictures...

That looks like it would be hot. It reminds me of some of the places I could see from the plane on the way to California and actually I guess it could have been.

Yes, the hottest temperature in the Western Hemisphere was recorded at Death Valley in the 1930's... 134 degrees fahrenheit!!! It is very common for Death Valley to have highs of around 125 on a typical summer day... the hottest I've experienced while there is 118.... but the humidity is so low its not as bad as it sounds... I live in Alabama and the humidity is so bad here in the summer that when it's 90 it feels worse than 118 in Death Valley.  :0)

Oh wow!  What great pictures, tforster!  Thanks for sharing.  Looks like you were north of us when we were in Monument Valley.  Love the dunes in Death Valley, too.  The American West is the greatest.  8)
