Morning all,

21 degrees. I see crocuses peeking up in my garden. No daffodils yet. Nice pics, Artiste!

Knowing Maine, it will probably be 90 degrees!

Beautiful paintings, Artiste! I love daffodils. Where I live, they're available only in stores at this time of year, but I always try to get some. They're a small reassurance that spring is on its way.

It's snowing here today, BTW. Highs in the upper 30s.

Morning all,

32 degrees and snowing! We must have the snow that Katherine had yesterday. Not a blizzard, but the ground is definitely coated with the white stuff and I will need to wipe off the car.

The endless winter of 2007-2008...

plus (and this is just MY opinion) if you are gonna sit in a chair at a tattoo parlor and bare your chest for some stranger to poke holes in...how modest can you be??

I don't get the impression that women with nipple rings are the shyest amongst us...

I believe the policy is flawed. If a man has the option to expose his chest (privately) for screening, then a woman should have the same option. Denying that option to women is based on an erroneous belief that women's breasts are sexual organs. They aren't.

David, what is the policy for a man who has a genital piercing? Is he allowed to show it to a screener or must he go to the bathroom and remove it?

It almost reminds me of the old issue about men being able to walk around in public without shirts on, whereas women are not allowed to do so (during hot summer months, on non-topless beaches, etc.).  It seems to reinforce and idea that women need to possibly be "ashamed" of their bodies by always needing to be covered up.

In terms of the specific issue of the airport screenings and privacy... I think both sexes should have both options.  If men want to have privacy, they should be allowed that (just as women are).  And, if women want the convenience of just removing the thing in the more public areas, then that should be allowed too.  It does seem odd that it's automatically assumed that women need to be secluded off to do this.

Although, personally I can understand wanting privacy.

And, LOL, yeah, nipple rings on women can be fairly substantial. :)
