Maybe that means that Jack and Ennis are in harmony right now

8)

Maybe it means they're both sweaty and uncomfortable right now! I'm in between Childress and Riverton, and I can tell you it's been hot hot hot! It's quite likely that the town of Denver will be breaking a record on Friday of the most days with an over 90 degree high! However, I'm lucky to live outside of town in the Front Range, where it's always at least 10 degrees below the sweltering town. It's lovely here right now, in the mid-70s.

Well, tomorrow morning, way too early, I am off for my annual "pilgrimage" to Provincetown, Massachusetts, for some badly needed relaxation in that good sea air at the tip of Cape Cod. Don't know if I'll get back on here before I leave. I'll be back home Monday evening.  :)

Have fun Jeff! :)

Morning all,

Like Lee, we have lovely natural air conditioning. It is a very pleasant 63 degrees this morning with another nice day in store.

Tonight, our two Japanese students have told us they are going to make us some "traditional Japanese food." Not sure what it will be...I'll report back.

I'm looking forward to hearing about the Japanese meal too.  Can you post pictures of it?

Well, unfortunately I didn't take pictures, but I can give you a description. We had 3 dishes:

1) "scrambled eggs" (their words) with ketchup on top
2) sort of an omelette thing..with ketchup on top
3) salad made with lettuce and tomatoes and in the center, cooked onions and kielbasa

Okay, my review...

#1. I didn't try.
#2 was reminiscent of egg sushi...sort of the folded over egg concoction...the layers weren't as thin as at the sushi bar and I wasn't too crazy about the ketchup but all in all...it was okay.
#3 Salad was good. I still don't know where they got the onions and kielbasa from (all chopped up in tiny little pieces) but all put together it was quite tasty. I would eat this again.

My Japanese guests, however, have discovered S'MORES and think they are the food of the gods...LOL....for two nights we have had a campfire, marshmallows, chocolate and graham cracker affair...which has been hugely successful....

All of this makes me think...Chrissi, when I come to visit you, I can cook American....you should think of what you want....

Interesting meal, Leslie.  Who knew that ketchup was a Japanese staple?  ;D

I had an adventure today!  There's a helium balloon set up in Central Park for a month, offering 10 minute rides for $25, so a friend and I went early this morning to try it out.  The balloon is anchored to the ground, but it goes up about as high as a 30-story building and is wafted around a bit.  Only four people can squeeze in the little basket at a time.  Here are a few pics:

On the way back from the balloon flight, I took a couple of pictures.  Afterwards, breakfast!  8)
