At least there's still cold water and the heating continues to work. I can live without hot water from the tap, we have an electric kettle and a stove after all.

You could boil water on the stove, then fill up a basin so you can warsh everythin' you can reach. ...  ;)

Yup, that's what we do. Believe it or not, exactly that quote came to my mind while doing so ;D.
Brokeback is so ingrained in my life, three years in. Still amazing.

I love cities in the fall and the winter. In summer cities can just blow, but I love them in the fall and the winter.  :)

You can say that twice and mean it.  :)

The best time EVER was during and afer the Blizzard of January '96. I had only just moved into my condo the preceding fall. The snow completely shut down the city. For those of us who lived in the heart of town, it was one big endless par-tay. The bars were hopping, and outdoors it was clean and most amazingly quiet. People made snow angels in the middle of Locust Street.  ;D

...My husband already tried to thaw the pipes with a hair dryer, and that's what the plumber said.

Hey Chrissi!  The hair dryer may not be hot enough.  When this happened to me once, I had to use a blow torch, with the flame directly on the pipe, in order to thaw it out.

Whatever you do, be careful.  Don't need a fire!  Good luck!

Hooray!!!

The warm water is back! :D

One pipe is still frozen (the one which catches the overflow from the burner). So we still need my super-high-tech construction: a funnel from my kitchen combined with a pipe from the former aquarium, led into a 10L bucket. I fixed all parts with ornery packthread. We empty the bucket four or fives times a day. Works good.

I'm more mechanical than Randall .

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Glad to hear the warm water is back.
