My 2 cents, for what it's worth...
I always thought that opening a thread for open criticism was a potential minefield. A large part of the pleasure of partaking in the PT is, for me, the fact that it is not a preordained narrative and is for the most part reactive. This keeps it fresh and creative - having to react to posts which are unexpected, and possibly disruptive to your own narrative, makes us all more creative participants in this fantastic fun.
This thread used to be a place where we expressed our admiration for our fellow posters and to say thanks for posts which made us laugh our asses off, and I see nothing wrong with that. It makes everyone's day a little more pleasurable to give and receive praise. When criticism is brought into the public arena, as it has been here, no matter how well intentioned and 'constructive' this criticism is, it is gonna ruffle feathers, hurt feelings and make people feel exposed and defensive. Criticism should be the preserve of the PM, and likewise when posters are offended or concerned by another's post then those issues, too, should be discussed in private.
On a final note, I personally would like to see an end to the practice of taking cheap shots at other posters on the critics gallery. It's childish, it serves no-one, and it resolves nothing.
Thanks,
