Aw, you're a trouper, Louise - and it's greatly appreciated. This was wonderful.  I really enjoyed getting a chance to meet Doris and officer-in-training Jeremiah.

“Ya mean he ain’t ever gonna do that? I had such high hopes,” she added. “Our anniversary’s the tenth. Yer off a week.”

  She's the perfect match for Joe!  Thanks, Louise!

bwah!  Yes, I had some delay in writing that because I couldn't see Joe in the doghouse with his lovely and beloved spouse simply over a missed date, when lives hung in the balance.  There had to be a third force at work!

louisev:
the next chapter is under construction AT THIS HOUR! and I have a luxurious 14 hours of uninterrupted brain-time ahead of me!

eta: and as soon as I say that I start working on a guide for the book so that I can keep track of the action... *eyeroll*

Thanks for the heads up, Louise!  As for the action - well, you haven't given yourself an easy task, but then you never do! LOL.  I hope to carve out some time this weekend to start on "Empire"!
